In a wise non-roster move, Minnesota Timberwolves officials Friday pulled TV ads featuring faux-sportscaster Don Overbeck – citing a need to present a more serious marketing message.

Todd Andrews, spokesman for the Timberwolves’ Minneapolis ad firm, Martin/Williams Advertising, said the NBA franchise pulled TV ads featuring Overbeck’s “Ball Talk” show after a tumultuous week for the Timberwolves...

This year, the Wolves recycled the “See what they can do” ad theme, this time using Overbeck, washed-up amalgamation of American sportscasters, in its TV advertising.

Overbeck was a balding, black plastic-rimmed glasses guy positioned as a mesh of Howard Cosell, Harry Caray, Dick Vitale, Marv Albert and Mean Gene Okerlund.
