Minneapolis/St. Paul – Minnesota Timberwolves forward Al Jefferson has been named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Dec. 29-Jan. 4, the league announced today. This is the third weekly honor of Jefferson's career and second as a member of the Timberwolves.

He and Detroit’s Rodney Stuckey got the conference Player of the Week honors for games played last Monday through Sunday.

Jefferson averaged 27.3 points on 52.4 percent shooting and  12.3 rebounds. Included were a season-high 38 points and 16 rebounds in a 108-98 overtime victory over Memphis a week ago today. He is eighth in the league in double-doubles with 18 and is one of only there players — Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan are the others — who are averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds a game.
