Wolves Updates 1/8 Part 2 E-mail

There is improvement of sorts in Kevin Love's game. He still is horrible finishing a play, and tonight, given OKC's pathetic interior rotations and awareness in the paint, the rook caught at least ten balls deep in the paint with a chance to convert. Two or three weeks ago, nearly all of those shots would be blocked. Now, he still costs his teammates the assist, but at least he is drawing the foul as he misses.

Kevin McHale deserve credit for his coaching in certain areas and the longer run of games will give us a greater feel on how extensive the praise should be for the entire year.   The players are hearing from one voice who has the authority as opposed to earlier in the year when the players heard from Randy Wittman and McHale who was communicating with the players on a regular basis and never was reluctant to give his opinion even if it differed dramatically from Wittman.  McHale has given this team greater offensive freedom which benefits a young team without an on court leader.  Lets see how it works when you match up against better teams especially in close games but the argument can be offered up did you have a choice considering the alternative.  Limiting Rashad McCants minutes makes sense but it is ironic considering McHale has defended him countless times when coaches and players have raised issues regarding McCants and his effect on the team.

The competition has been far from daunting, but it's probably time to give it up for the Timberwolves. They've nearly doubled their win total over the last week, taking down the Warriors, Bulls, Grizzlies, and Thunder. Yes, those might be the four worst teams in the NBA on most nights, but it's something. The Timberwolves are making a case to stay a step above the lowest possible rung.

OurSportCentral on NBA D-League team Sioux Falls Skyforce.
In particular, the affiliations with the Skyforce's parent organizations, the Charlotte Bobcats and Minnesota Timberwolves, help tremendously. Sioux Falls uses these family connections in special promotions for the team, including a Timberwolves/Skyforce weekend this season, in which the two teams will make appearances on one another's home court.

Sara Foss/Daily Gazette on the Celtics:
In any case, it isn’t nearly as fun to come to work and say, “Guess which NBA team just lost its third game in a row?” or “Guess which NBA team has lost six of eight?”

Meanwhile, the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves, the team I recently mocked right here in this blog, have won four in a row.
