It is not known what effect the Kahn hire will have on the status of McHale, but a person close to the situation said that won't be decided until next week, at least.

Kahn is believed to be open to McHale returning, but the team's longtime vice president of basketball operations has been noncommittal on the subject.

Uncertain also is what Kahn's arrival means for the rest of the front office, including assistant general manager Fred Hoiberg and GM Jim Stack, the two internal candidates for the top job.

According to the same person, who asked not to be identified, the entire staff is expected to stay on through the June 25 NBA draft with no changes before July 1.
