Reactions to Love's tweet on McHale E-mail

Today is a sad day...Kevin McHale will NOT be back as head coach next season.

P.S. I am not a breaking news guy...I had no idea no one knew..I'll tell them I stayed at a holiday inn express last night. Always works....

@Fox9Sports swapped texts with him to make sure it's no joke...said they talked tonight...looks like tweet speaks for itself.

Upon seeing the posting, a person in the league was told McHale sent a text message to Love indicating he was not coming back. The person requested anonymity because no official announcement has been made.

New team president David Kahn and two Timberwolves spokesmen did not immediately return messages left by The Associated Press.

While this is far from official, it pretty much puts an end to the speculation that McHale might return. Sam Mitchell is probably the top candidate to replace McHale at this point, but that is simply speculation by Rotoworld. It will also be interesting to see how the Wolves feel about Love breaking this story in true renegade style.

Even if Love is correct, it'll be interesting to learn the circumstances surrounding the decision. Though his players seemed to like him, McHale never seemed to warm up to the time commitment that came with coaching. Did he turn down an offer from the Timberwolves?

Or has new GM David Kahn settled on a different candidate? If so, is it Bill Laimbeer? He unexpectedly resigned from the WNBA's Detroit Shock on Monday, and fans immediately connected him to Minnesota's job, thanks to a recent blind item in a Minneapolis newspaper.

Officially, the folks in charge of the Minnesota Timberwolves organization are hemming and hawing when it comes to the future of Kevin McHale. However, one of their own players appears to have broken the news via everyone’s favorite social media platform.

From Seth Kaplan/MyFox9.com:
When Kevin McHale joined the Timberwolves in 1994, most people didn't know what e-mail was... now we learn his fate in 140 characters or less.

From Inside Hoops: Kevin Love writes that Kevin McHale is out as Timberwolves coach
