Rubio remains unsigned as he ponders his many options. Among them: staying in Europe and continuing to play for his Spanish team, DKV Joventut, or trying to secure a buyout from that team (reported to be as much as $6.6 million) so he could play in the NBA.

Both Flynn, drafted out of Syracuse, and Ellington, from North Carolina, are scheduled to play with the Timberwolves entry in the Las Vegas Summer League. The Wolves play Sunday, Monday and July 17-19.

Rockets assistant Elston Turner will go from coaching the Rockets’ summer league team to interviewing to become head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the next few days in Las Vegas.

"I’m going to be interviewing sometime this week, in the next couple days," said Turner who was a candidate for the Phoenix Suns’ position last off season.

Here's what I wouldn't have done: taken a second point guard (Jonny Flynn) at No. 6, then vowed to play them together. That pick was transparent -- Flynn clearly was a "here's our backup plan if we don't sign Rubio" selection. Rubio saw right through it. Now he's probably going back to Spain, and by the time he joins the NBA, David Kahn will be gone. Here's to four years of a hot-poop sundae, Wolves fans! Enjoy. Would you like whipped cream on that? How 'bout a cherry?
