Jonah Ballow/Timberwolves site previews tonight's summer league game against the Wizards at 7:00pm CST.
There are several connections between the Wizards and Wolves. Washington head coach Flip Saunders and assistant coach Randy Wittman both coached in Minnesota. The Wolves also dealt Randy Foye and Mike Miller to the Wizards for Oleksiy Pecherov, Etan Thomas, and the 5th overall pick this offseason.

Washington owns a 1-1 record in Summer League action and most recently fell to the Nuggets 77-70 on Wednesday. Second-year man Nick Young is off to a tremendous start by averaging 26.5 points per game. Young is a dynamic scorer out of USC and can play the guar and forward positions. After his 36-point outburst against Cleveland, Young is the second leading scorer behind Anthony Randolph. Washington must be ecstatic to also witness the development of Andray Blatche through the first two games. Blatche is averaging 24 points and 12.5 rebounds per game.

Former Kings assistant Elston Turner, who joined Rick Adelman's staff with the Houston Rockets, has emerged as a legitimate candidate for the head coaching vacancy in Minnesota. From what I have been told, new Wolves president David Kahn, who is conducting the most extensive coaching search known to mankind, is leaning toward a group of finalists that includes television analyst and former NBA point guard Mark Jackson, Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis and Turner. Kahn was leaving for Spain to try to negotiate a buyout for Ricky Rubio, but upon his return, is considering staging auditions for his coaching finalist.

The frontrunners for the Minnesota job are believed to be former NBA point guard Mark Jackson, Dallas assistant and former NBA head coach Terry Stotts, Los Angeles Lakers assistant and former NBA head coach Kurt Rambis and Houston assistant Elston Turner. While Turner might be more inclined than the other three to take the job, it's not out of the question any of them might deem it not the right move.

Besides, if Kahn wasn't genuinely interested in Bzdelik, why would he be talking to him so late in the process? Bzdelik is highly regarded enough in the NBA that Chicago executive John Paxson flew to Denver last year to interview him for his team's head position, although the job eventually went to Vinny Del Negro.

Colorado basketball coach Jeff Bzdelik wasn't going to allow the Las Vegas rumor mill to reach his boss, athletic director Mike Bohn, before he did.

So when Bzdelik had a casual conversation with the Minnesota Timberwolves earlier this week during the NBA summer league in Las Vegas, he promptly reported the chat to Bohn. The meeting was first reported by the website the Rocky Mountain Independent.

The Timberwolves have not called Bohn for permission to talk to his coach, Bohn said Thursday night by phone.

"It is important to us that it was a causal talk and not a formal interview by any means," Bohn said. "Jeff has been completely transparent with us. He is as excited as ever about Colorado basketball."

From Al Jefferson's website:
Al Jefferson will be hosting a number of charity youth camps at Prentiss High School, July 29th – 31st, as part of a community service effort to help the people of the place where he was raised.

Al grew up in the small town of Prentiss, Mississippi, and wants to help encourage and empower the young people of this small community to work hard, follow their dreams, and provide basketball skills in the process.

The camps, designed to reinforce the fundamentals of basketball and to encourage young people through sports is free of charge. However, availability may be limited depending on the number of campers.
