Trail Blazers assistant coach Monty Williams on Saturday said he has been informed that he will not get the Minnesota Timberwolves head coaching job.

Williams interviewed for the position with Minnesota general manager David Kahn in Portland over the July 4 weekend, then had several short conversations over the past month.

Jefferson said the camp is just one in a line of charitable events he hopes to bring to the area, including a Feed The Children initiative today.

Prentiss principal Roosevelt Oatis said every student at the high school qualifies for free lunch, so to have Jefferson as an example is something special to the entire community.

"He has not gotten to the point of forgetting where he came from," said Oatis, who called the school system the area's biggest industry. "When you talk about the effect on the community, you can see it in the kids. The swagger in their walk.

"We haven't always had a great reputation here in Jefferson Davis County. It shows we have great things and great people within. Al typifies the greatness, the sincerity and all of the finest qualities within a rural community."
