From the Pioneer Press:
Despite reaching agreement Saturday night that would have allowed Ricky Rubio to join the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team's first-round draft pick changed his mind Monday night and will stay in Spain for two more years, Timberwolves president David Kahn said in a statement today.

The 18-year-old point guard will play the next two seasons for FC Barcelona, which bought out his contract from DKV Joventut, Kahn said, then will join the Timberwolves.

From the Timberwolves site: DKV Joventut Statement on Ricky Rubio
DKV Joventut, being respectful with the player´s decision, and acting always in defense of its interest as an entity, and based on what it was signed in the contract, has put all the efforts to find a satisfactory solution suitable to everybody.

Yesterday, after a big effort from the two parties, DKV Joventut and Minnesota Timberwolves reached an agreement which permited to terminate the contractual relationship between the player and the Club and his integration in the NBA team.

In front of this situation and in contradiction with what he has been saying to us and to Timberwolves´ representatives from time to time, the player has announced the decision that he wants to be transferred to FC Barcelona.

(Via Hoopshype) From Marca.com:
Marca.com was the first media breaking the news about Ricky staying in Spain and today it will be official. DKV Joventut and Regal Barcelona will sign the agreement today at 14:00 (8:00 EST).

Also from Marca.com:
This morning the Wolves were still trying to convince Rubio, but he has already agreed with Regal Barcelona. The Spanish club will pay also the I.V.A. taxes, which means the buyout will be more than four million euros ($5.72 million dollars).
