Sessions press conference E-mail

From Jonah Ballow/Timberwolves site (also has an audion and video link to  yesterday's press conference introducing Ramon Sessions):
Before receiving an offer sheet from the Wolves, Sessions was a coveted player in free agency this offseason. The Knicks and Clippers were two teams contemplating signing the second-year point guard. Minnesota was pleased to sign Sessions to a four-year deal and solidify its backcourt with Jonny Flynn, Wayne Ellington, Chucky Atkins, and Antonio Daniels.

"Just being in NBA, I followed it a lot. When the [Ricky] Rubio thing went down and I found out he was not coming over, me and my agent talked about it. Less than five hours later, they [Wolves] were calling. So, like I said it all worked out and the best situation is me being here and I'm happy to be here," Sessions said.

Tuesday, Kahn introduced his latest acquisition, Ramon Sessions, a natural point guard who showed plenty of promise last year in Milwaukee.

"We're almost done," Kahn said. "I expect us to do at least one more thing, probably this week, maybe some housekeeping between now and training camp, but I think this one was a big one. And I think another move we may make this week will be significant as well."

Someone asked whether the upcoming move would be a trade of Sessions before he could even unpack. "No, Ramon will be here this week," Kahn said. "I can't say anything about next week."

He was joking. Maybe.

Mark Wollemann/Star Tribune posts some highlights from the news conference:
Q: Are you comfortable playing off the ball as much as you are with the ball in your hand?
Sessions: “This past year was really my first year playing off the ball, I felt really comfortable. With Mike Redd going down in Milwaukee, I had the opportunity to show that I can play off the ball so I am definitely looking forward to that challenge.”

In Minnesota, the 6-foot-3 Sessions will play the point guard position he's played his entire life, but also will move to shooting guard on occasion and pair with Flynn in a small, but dynamic, backcourt.

"In the times that they do play together it's going to be pretty fun to watch because of their ability of both of them to create for other people, to get inside the lane, either to draw a foul or find a teammate," Kahn said.

Sessions got plenty of time at shooting guard last season after Olympian Michael Redd went down with a knee injury. He topped 20 points 11 times in 79 games, including a 44-point, 12-assist game against Detroit on Feb. 7.
