He said he sought out a young team where he could play meaningful minutes, the solution to a problem he says he encountered last season in Cleveland. In the past three seasons there, Pavlovic went from a playoff starter to something of an afterthought.

"It just was a lot of players at my position, and they all played great," said Pavlovic, who will play in tonight's preseason game against Toronto at Target Center. "Cleveland is a great team, and last year I didn't have a chance to play. I had a lot of fun in Cleveland. That's the past. This is a new challenge for me. I was thinking about teams, young teams where I'd have a chance to prove myself in this league. This is a young team, just like I wanted.

"I think it is a perfect fit for me."

Al Jefferson sat out the scrimmage at the end of Thursday’s practice, but is expected to play Friday. Kurt Rambis said both Jefferson and Brewer should be ready to play more than just the first half they played Sunday against Milwaukee.

Kevin Love practiced fully today and showed no effects of getting whacked in the throat on Wednesday.

From a press release from the Sabes JCC:
Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn will be speaking at the Sabes Jewish Community Center (JCC) on Tuesday, October 13, at 7 pm. He will speak on the state of the team, the new direction on court and his personal direction for the organization. After a summer filled with personnel and player changes, fans will be able to hear from the source where the team is headed.

The evening will also include a drawing for 2 prizes. First prize is a pair of season tickets in one of the player sections (lower level). Included with this package is a meet & greet with the player associated with this section. The second prize is an autographed Al Jefferson jersey.

There will also be a Q&A opportunity and a dessert reception. This event is free and open to the public.

From Chris Tomasson/Fanhouse: Al Jefferson Has Sights on Team USA
There likely will be an opening for a post player on Team USA for next year's World Championships in Turkey and quite possibly for the 2012 Olympics in London. The Minnesota center has volunteered his services

"I would love to play for USA Basketball,'' Jefferson said Thursday in an interview with FanHouse. "I would love to play. Two summers ago (2007), I was in (Las) Vegas helping the team practice and they go off and wind up winning the (Olympic) gold medal the following year (in Beijing).

"So I already have been part of it. Then I got hurt last year, and I couldn't do much. But I would love to play with my country if they invite me.''

Timberwolves radio producer John Focke ran last weekend's Twin Cities Marathon in 3 hours, 39 minutes and 27 seconds, then zoomed over to the studio to produce the Wolves' exhibition victory over Milwaukee in Mankato.
