The Wolves sent Al Jefferson home from Detroit today so he can rest and recover from that flu/cold that forced him to wear a medical mask to contain his germs on the team’s flight from Denver Tuesday night.

He will not play either Thursday against the Pistons or Friday at Sioux Falls against Toronto and instead will recuperate with Wednesday’s regular-season opener against New Jersey his aim.

These days off also will give his inflamed Achilles tendon time to heal as well.

Welcome to the new timberwolves.com!

The interactive services department inside the offices of the Minnesota Timberwolves spent countless hours this offseason working on a complete redesign of the team Web site. Significant changes were seen throughout the organization during the summer, including a new president of basketball operations, a new coaching staff, and a revamped roster for the 2009-10 season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday started to roll out a revamped Web site that will include a new social networking portal called WolvesNation.com.

WolvesNation.com, which launches Monday, will gather all of the latest social media content from the team’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr accounts, as well as information from players’ personal accounts. It also will include fan forums, discussion boards and blogs.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived center Jared Reiner, one day after acquiring another big man in a trade with Dallas.

Reiner signed with the Timberwolves as a free agent at the end of September. He averaged 3.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in three preseason games. He has previously had stints with Milwaukee and Chicago and played college ball at Iowa.

From Chris Tomasson/Fanhouse: Flynn Finds His Way With Timberpups
The chaos has settled, and Flynn has become Minnesota's starter. The reviews so far are mostly good, and credit Flynn for realizing how difficult it is to learn to become an NBA point guard.

"It's definitely a tough situation,'' Flynn said in an interview with FanHouse. "It's the toughest position on the floor to be a rookie. First, a guy has to have leadership and to have everybody on the same page.''

Basketball Australia chief executive Larry Sengstock says Jawai was unhappy with the opportunities available to him at the Mavericks.

"They had players in his position already in front of him so that makes it difficult for him to break in," he said.

"Going to Minnesota gives him a real opportunity to get some game time and really develop his game further and develop his wares."

From WCCO: Target Giving Away Free T-Wolves Tickets Saturday

Jerry Zgoda/Star Tribune on last night's game at Denver:
Corey Brewer stepped forth with the two big guys out. He seems to be getting more confident each game: He scored 23 on 7 for 17 shooting (including two threes), had seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, a block, three fouls. He got knocked on his butt making one of his free throws, but missed the free throw and the potential four-point play.
