From Irv Soonachan/SLAM Online: A Q + A with David Kahn
SLAM: So are you going to be active in January and February?

DK: I don’t know how active we’ll be in January and February. A lot depends on what gets discussed. What’s important this season is that Kurt and I have an opportunity now to evaluate these players. Neither of us have ever been here before. Tonight I’m watching my eighth regular season game with the team, and Kurt’s coaching his eighth game. It’s important for us to identify who on the team we can go forward with. That and I really want to see the team improve this season. I think that as young as we are, we should be a better team come March and April.

Flynn entered Wednesday's game second on the team in scoring with a 15.0 points per game average and is first in assists with 3.5 a game.

"I'd like to see his assist total go up," Rambis said. "But I'd like to see his turnovers [also 3.5 a game] go down. That's what I'd really like to see."

"Pecherov does some things well and he does some things poorly," Rambis said. "He has to work on those things he does poorly to get more playing time . . . intense defense and rebounding and how we execute our offense. Some of those things, he doesn't do correctly."

As for Pecherov's "breakthrough" game against Boston, the performance is already a distant memory for Rambis.

"Any player in this league can have one good game," Rambis said. "It's very tough in this league to be consistent."

Afterward, Rambis said he saw some positive things, which qualifies him for the 2009 Jim Wacker Optimist Award.

"There were some good things guys did, particularly early and late in the ballgame," he said.

So far, he has kept his cool. He's been content to teach and hope for a better tomorrow.

"A loss is a loss, even if we're trying to learn something," guard Ramon Sessions said. "It's not fun even if you're learning or no matter what you're doing."

— After three starts for the Regal FC Barcelona basketball team, Timberwolves' top draft pick, guard Ricky Rubio, who turned 19 last month, is averaging 6.3 points and 23 minutes, hitting 1 of 6 three-point field goal tries.

That was Kevin Love of the Timberwolves and Justin Morneau of the Twins spotted at the Wild-Vancouver game the other day at the X.
