Second-year power forward Kevin Love, out since breaking his left hand in an exhibition game, will see a doctor Thursday to determine if he's ready to begin practicing.

"You can't put a date on it, but if the bone has healed like we hope it has, it should be shortly thereafter," Wolves president of basketball operations David Kahn said Sunday.

When it was all over and the Timberwolves' near-record losing streak had ended at 15 games and 32 days Sunday night in Denver, rookie guard Jonny Flynn slammed the ball once on the court as the final buzzer sounded.

Then he and his teammates smiled, shook hands and walked off the court in what was, given the circumstances, a most understated celebration.

"You see, on the court, you've got to keep your cool," Flynn said afterward. "You've got to keep your cool until you come back in the locker room and then you scream and jump around. You should have seen us coming into the locker room. It was like we won the championship, everybody hugging each other."

The way they walked off the court almost somberly, you would have thought they had just won their 14th straight.

“Shoot, that’s just one win,” Al Jefferson said. “It’s a good win, but we got to keep it going. We don’t want to win one and relax.”

He was almost grumpy in the locker room afterward on a night when the Wolves trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half.

An NBA source close to the situation informed your friendly neighborhood columnist this week that the Minnesota Timberwolves have eyes for Memphis Grizzlies swingman Rudy Gay.  After turning down a contract extension that was reportedly worth $10 million a year from Memphis in early November, Gay is set to become a restricted free agent this summer.

The Wolves are in need of an impact wing player and believe Gay could be that guy.  Minnesota is watching closely how he performs this season.  The source indicated that the one concern the Wolves have with regard to Gay is whether or not he will develop that "killer instinct" late in ballgames.
