From Steve Bulpett/Boston Herald: As
for how things will work out, talks with trusted NBA front office
people have actually yielded two distinct schools of thought. It’s
accepted that Al Jefferson [stats] is going to be good, and those who
think Kevin Garnett has a lot of mileage think it’s going to be hard
for the Celts to watch Big Al excel as KG winds down. But most of those
who question the C’s do so because they believe in Gerald Green and his
potential, and they believe the locals gave up an awful lot.
Despite an item in yesterday's Minneapolis Star-Tribune,
Villanova assistant coach Ed Pinckney has not agreed to become an
assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves, a source close to the
situatino said.
Pinckney, a star big man at Villanova who played 12 NBA seasons, has
been approached by several teams over the last 2 years. He was
unavailable for comment.
As noted by My Brain Says Rage, when bloggers suffer from writer's block, we tend to look to YouTube for material. And today, I happen to be suffering from writer's block. So, here are some video picks...to make things more interesting, I'll have a theme for today's stuff: Great outbursts and meltdowns.
I've been waiting and waiting but it looks like the K.G. trade is a legit trade and not the most elaborate prank ever. That sucks. This is the first time I've mentioned the trade since it happened because it hurt. I'm not going to lie. It really, really hurt. It felt exactly the same as when I broke up with my last serious girlfriend. At first I was in shock, then it was disbelief, then I was mad, then I was sad, then I said to myself, "At least she'll be happy where he's going." Then I was like, "Screw that, I need to be happy. I hope she trips over an extension cord in front of a large group of people." But alas, I am a Timberwolves fan and in the spirit of moving on I've decided to give this new team a chance.
Highlights in the Wolves' local broadcast schedule include both games
against the Boston Celtics and former Timberwolf Kevin Garnett on
KSTC.TV Ch. 45 (Jan. 25 and Feb. 8); both contests against LeBron James
and the Cleveland Cavaliers on KSTC.TV Ch. 45 (Nov. 21 and Feb. 29);
three games against 2007 No. 1 overall draft pick Greg Oden and the
Portland Trail Blazers on FSN North (Dec. 28, Jan. 2 and March 11); and
three games against the defending NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs (Nov.
30 and Jan. 12 on KSTC.TV Ch. 45 and Feb. 21 on FSN North).
The Wolves preseason exhibition against the Celtics in London will be broadcast on ESPN 2.
-Ed Pinckney, an assistant basketball coach at Villanova, will replace Rex Kalamian as an assistant with the Timberwolves...
-Wolves owner Glen Taylor held a board of directors and owners
meeting Wednesday and he reported to the group that the franchise lost
more than $20 million last season..
-Juwan Howard "has named three teams he would prefer to play with, but so far none of
the three have offered what the Wolves believe would be adequate trade
value."
-The Wolves have offered a "one-year contract at the minimum of $420,000 and a club option for two more years" to second round pick Chris Richard but the player's agent is looking for a two-year guarantee...
Israel plays Croatia on Friday after its 87-83 win over Serbia
handed the Serbs their earliest exit from the European Championship in
60 years.
The loss has been labelled a "disaster" by media back home, with coach Zoran Slavnic offering his resignation.
"We fell psychologically and morally while (Israel) could do
anything they wanted to," Minnesota Timberwolves guard Marko Jaric
said. "I am sorry, but life goes on."
I lost a lot of my homies due to the trades this summer. Telfair
(Bassy), Green (G$), Jefferson (AJ), Gomes (Gomez)...congrats man on
the wedding, West (D West), and Ray (A Reezy) were some of my closest
teammates. Last year, in every city we went to, we would always go to
Ruth's Chris together...ima miss that tradition. Even though we're not
on the same team any more, we all try to keep in contact and check up
on each other...
