From NBA.com:
The National Basketball Association announced today that in response to the recent tragedies in Asia, NBA Cares is supporting the efforts of the Red Cross and UNICEF to provide emergency relief to the people affected by the recent earthquake in China and Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar, respectively...

Several NBA teams, including the Houston Rockets and its owner Leslie Alexander, are contributing financial resources to support the relief efforts. NBA players including Steve Nash, Baron Davis, Jason Kidd, Greg Oden, Raymond Felton, Leandro Barbosa, Andris Biedrins, Marko Jaric and Marcus Williams, among others, have already stepped forward to contribute as well.

Austin Meek/The Topeka Capital-Journal on which player the Wolves would take with the #1 pick:
GM Kevin McHale was among NBA brass spotted in Manhattan this season, so we know he's interested. It sounds like the Timberwolves like Randy Foye as their point guard, which means Beasley would be their pick.

Ben Pherson and Jason Feldman/Post-Bulletin on the Wolves and the NBA lottery.

Fred Hoiberg, assistant general manager of the Timberwolves, was on Indiana and Minnesota teams that went deep into the playoffs and had other thoughts on the trend.

"When you have a sellout crowd, the noise ... and I think the noisemakers are louder in our game, the P.A. systems, the music and all that,'' Hoiberg said. "The veteran teams can usually stop the bleeding, while younger teams have more trouble with it. But right now, you're seeing all the teams -- San Antonio is as veteran a group of guys as you have, winning NBA championships, and you saw how New Orleans' home court affected them the other night..."

The recently retired Bob Knight and Pat Summitt of Tennessee will be honored as the special guests at the Third Annual Dick Vitale Gala. The list of 700 guests includes Bill Self, Chuck Daly, Roy Williams, Pat Riley, Tom Izzo, John Calipari, Billy Donovan, Mike Woodson, Jon Gruden, Tubby Smith, Randy Wittman and NBA Hall of Famer John Havlicek.
