It's 2003-04 all over again for KG and Sam I Am
This article appears on www.DeROK.Net/wolves
At the risk of sounding like a total hypocrite after writing my piece about contract buyouts, I am extremely happy to see Sam Cassell once again paired with Kevin Garnett. I certainly don't like the way Sam I Am weaseled his way out of L.A. and over to Boston, but I won't let those circumstances stop me from enjoying what's to come. The biggest regret of my life as a sports fan is that I never got to see the 2003-04 Timberwolves win the NBA Championship. Ask any Minnesota fan and they'll gladly tell you how amazing that season's squad was. They were simultaneously the biggest underdogs and yet the most formidable opponent. They loved playing together, they came up big in the biggest of moments, and they collectively took the most downtrodden fanbase in the league and lifted them to unimaginable heights. In my entire life, I have never loved a team like I loved that team or enjoyed as season like I enjoyed that season.

1. Written by ogishkemuncie, on 18-03-2008 04:23 Sam Cassell, in his short tenure here, has been the best guard in franchise history. He became the kind of guard I think the team originally hoped that Stephon would develop into early on. He also exhibited some of Marbury's petulance and self-interest before he left the team, too. The way he leaves franchises must irk the fans of those teams, but he does definitely make the teams better while he is on their roster, and Sam realizes it IS a business where the player has to look out for his interests over that of the team owner. When the player is no longer of any use, the team won't keep him around.

, on 18-03-2008 14:28 Sam Cassel is 38 and hasn't won a championship...and this may be his last chance to do so. Kind of like Gary Payton's situation with Miami in a way.... Now that said, HOW DARE YOU...YOU HYPOCRITE!! Just kidding!! ( you did mention "at the risk of sounding like a total hypocrite...." in your opening statement after all...lol)

, on 18-03-2008 18:27 Actually, Cassell has already won two titles with the Rockets in 94 and 95. I'm just happy he'll be able to bring his experience and help KG try to capture his first.
