The recruiting landscape is starting to take shape. It is looking like arguably the best class of the Tressel era. That is saying a lot considering how well Jim Tressel has recruited here.

Tomorrow a huge piece of the puzzle falls into place as Braxton Miller makes his verbal. That it is going to be the Buckeyes is the worst kept secret that I have seen in a very long time. Everyone is talking more about his impact on the rest of the class. Make no mistake. These kids want to win badly. That competitive drive is somethin crucial to what makes these elite athletes, elite athletes. They do things nobody else can do because of that thing that burns inside of them to win the game. Playing with other great athletes is what wins championships. Even at this early age they know the importance of a difference maker at quarterback.

The question is, how much work is Miller going to have to do to make this a class that is in the running for the #1 class in the country. He will join class with eleven verbals already. How many more are leaning this way?

I say Ron Tanner is just a matter of time. I don't know what he is waiting on quite frankly. That he would choose to go elsewhere would be an even bigger shock than Miller. I thought Nick Vannett would be a done deal by now. I still think he will be. He was offered by Notre Dame. Cancelled a spring game trip to South Bend to come to the spring game here. Again, I don't know what he is waiting on. If Notre Dame and the pass happy offense that Brian Kelly will bring with him could not overcome the Buckeye heart that beats in his chest, nothing will. People are afraid of Notre Dame with Evan Spencer. Get out of here with that. A kid whose Dad was a star here, grew up in the WHAC, but he is going to choose Notre Dame? Buckeye roots that deep don't wither. That is not going to happen. He will be a Buckeye in a short time. All looks really good with Joel Hale and Doran Grant. I think Hale could be the one who gets it over with first. That takes the total to 17 before the season gets started.

James Vaughters looks good for the Buckeyes. I will say I believe the Buckeyes are the team to beat. There is one site that says Ja'Juan Story will be a Buckeye. Out of his own mouth Story stated that the Buckeyes were in his top three. The interview was not done by a Buckeye site. We are in a dogfight for Trey DePriest. Some say Ohio State while others say Alabama. Angelo Mangiro says it is pretty much down to Ohio State and Penn State. I have never read anything where he talks about Penn State as glowingly as he does about Ohio State. Those are four players you don't say no to.

What about the defensive backs? We need to add defensive backs, and we are in good shape with Dondi Kirby. You wait until signing day for a player like Wayne Lyons.Kevin McReynolds is definitely a possible.

Glenville players wait until the season is over to commit. Can they afford to do that this year? Here is another question to consider. Of the above players who do you say no to so you can take a guard, Aundray Walker, and a kick returner, Shane Wynn?
