WOW. That is shocking to me. I would be suprised if he doesn't get more than the MLE, although there aren't many teams with a lot of ca$h to throw around. But I have always been a Maggette pimp. He gets to the line & is as strong as anyone. He dropped over 22 ppg last year. I'm just trying to picture how/where he would fit in with the Celtics, and like The Daddy said, I don't know how I feel yet. It's just hard to me to picture it. But I do think Maggs for $5.8 mil a year is a steal, and there is a good chance they may lose Posey, so I'm on board.

You have to love Maggette for your free throw category in Fantasy... except on the 1 week out of 8 where his % drop from his usual 90 to like 60.

I really like Maggette's game. As far as two years back I was saying the Wolves should have gone after him, so I can say I'm not bandwagoning this.

Anyways, he's a great choice for the C's if he'll accept the MLE and ONLY if Posey wants too much money or years. They gotta get Posey back if they can. If not, definitely get Maggette. People say he's not a great defender, but he's a HUGE muscular body at like 6'6". I think he'd be fully capable of playing very good team defense with the C's and Tom T.'s defensive system.

Also, it always pisses me off when Bonk ALWAYS overpays for and/or drafts him too high in our fantasy bball leagues. Jerk.

This better not happen. Maggette belongs on the 76ers. They have the money to sign him and desperately need another scorer. If they had Maggette they could move Iguodala back to SG and wouldn't have to start Willie frickin Green anymore.

Chuck Norris won by 5.

I have also expressed my reasonably high opinion on Magette in the "Baron Davis to Clips" thread as well as my expactation that he would demand more money than just the MLE - which was reportedly already in play by the Spurs to get him. Although I could imagine him rather going to Boston than SA, but this is just gessing.

To me, it is still doubtful if he'd fit in with the C's though. I would expect he would like to start after all the time he was in and out of the rotation with the Clips and I don't know anything about his character to judge if he could defer to being the sixth men on a contender...

...or does anyone expect that Magette's arrival in Boston would push Allen back to the first man of the bensh? I would doubt it since imho, Magette would be perfect for spelling Paul Pierce whose game he resembles a little bit.

But nonetheless, if they'd loose Posey for whatever reason (and I wouldn't sign him for more than two years to something other than a heavily front loaded contract), he should be their No.1 option.

HA! He & Lamar Odom - Those are my fantasy doggs right there. Bytheway, I UNDERpaid for him last year...got him for $14! (in our $150 WC Only League).

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. If someone gets him for the MLE, it seems like a big steal to me. Even if he doesn't seem like a great fit, I think the money is right, so go for it with the MLE if you are Boston or San Antonio. Good players are good players.

Ok, so ONE time you did some sneaky GM'ing and got him cheap. Pfffff.

P.S. Trade him to me.

If Maggette goes to the Spurs I will never be a fan of his again. I encourage you all to boo him to no end if this happens.

Fyck that team.

Go to the Celtics.

For going to a smart, perfectly managed organisation that has won a title very 2nd year since they drafted Duncan? Booooooooooooooo !

Anyways, it looks like he has just gotten a third option to sign for the MLE since now Detroid seems interested as well. But I I were in his shoes, I'd take either the Celts' or the Spurs' offer, if the money would make no difference ... and between those two, the Celts' because of the higher chance to at least reach the finals.

Yeah, I agree. If he really wants to win, he should sign with the Celtics.

On the other hand, on the Spurs, he would likely be starting and have a certain position from the very beginning, while the Celts would first have to sort things out for him.

Like it has been said on this board already: A player is a player (true), but every player needs a system to maximize or only to utilize his talents.

Nonetheless, I'd go to the Celts, they'll figure it out ...

The Daddy can't be bothered with your incoherent logic. The Spurs should be sold to Seattle.

Interesting idea ... I'm not 100% sure about all the ifs and buts negotiated in the "franchise-formerly-known-as-the-sonics" move to OKC, but would the new Seattle team then be know as the "Superspurs", play in black with yellow trimming and be listed as a 5-time NBA champion (1 from the sonics, 4 from the spurs)?

----------------------

Obiviously, meanwhile every team is offering Magette the MLE ... fun thing to be such a wanted man because everybody tries to get you on the cheap. I'm keeping my fingers crossed more than ever that he'll sign with the C's now ... not so much because I think he'll be such a big addition to the team, but because I fear they might sign Darius Miles out of retirement if Magette ends up somewhere else.

Scary thought *shiver* ...

SUPERSPURS!!!! Ish. I just threw up at the thought of that...

How about the Spurs pursue Mr. Miles instead? I'd like that. Actually I think Eddie Jones would fit perfectly with them. Maggette is more of a Celtic type player than a Spur...

Dear god I can't imagine the Celtics would do that. What a disaster that could be. They should definitely re-sign Posey now. He's worth it.

Isn't it even mind boggling that they worked him out after all and were cited to be "impressed" by his performance?

I don't like the sound of that ...
