Old School got 25th in All-NBA team voting!! I know that sounds fairly unimpressive, but look at all of the guys directly below him in points:

Al Jefferson, Minnesota, 14;Chris Bosh, Toronto, 11; Joe Johnson, Atlanta 8; Andre Miller, Philadelphia, 7; Caron Butler, Washington, 5; Shaquille O'Neal, Phoenix, 5; Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers, 5; Kevin Martin, Sacramento, 4; Ray Allen, Boston, 4; Hedo Turkoglu, Orlando, 3; Jason Kidd, Dallas, 2; Josh Howard, Dallas, 2; Richard Hamilton, Detroit, 2; Andre Iguodala, Philadelphia, 1; Brandon Roy, Portland, 1; Michael Redd, Milwaukee, 1; Tayshaun Prince, Detroit, 1; Tony Parker, San Antonio, 1

Not bad Al, not bad at all.

You know I was thinking about the future success of the Timberwolves and although most are focusing on drafts and trades, we forget about Old School. The biggest boost we could get as a team is if Big Al became a strong vocal leader of the Wolves. Players like Foye and McCants and Brewer who are high draft picks with great potential and are on the edge of everyones crap list could blossom with someone like Al mentoring them. Look how many players KG dragged to success along with him through the years. A strong player personality can out motivate a coach. He is certainly qualified enough and I believe he has the toughness if he chooses to exercise it. I think it would mean a lot more if he told McCants to shut up and play vs Wittman. Foye has expressed the desire to be the leader but he does not have the personality to do so. He also does not deserve it. The truly successful teams are not a collection of superstars but rather a well oiled group of roll players.
