Brook Lopez tears up Summer League 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Howls: 37
10 points, 5 fouls, and 0 rebounds in 20 minutes!

Yes I know Summer League is almost meaningless, I just have a feeling and I know other people do as well that he's going to be a massive bust.

My Magic 8-ball sees similar statlines for him in the future.

I hate to be the croaker, but let's wait for Kevin Love's first box score and we'll talk again.

I'm not speaking out against Kevin Love, but big men who aren't freakish athletes - and neither Lopez nor Love are - seldomly look good in their first games against real men.

True, but I feel it is my duty to incessantly rip on Brick Lopez.

The NBA Dish from 7/8. David Thorpe rips Lopez to the bone.

"Beasley gets beat up on second day of summer league"

"Rose sits out with tendenitis in both knees"

"Lopez looks like everyone else on the court"

A couple more days and we get our first "Love headlines" I wonder what they will say?

That he looks awesome out there as 20% of the first NBA "Whiteout" in over two decades?

Really? Is everyone else a freakish goon with an Andre the Giant voice, a pedophile smile, a single white glove, and a pair of Mickey ears?

I was thinking of ripping on our main man Brook Lopez as well when this thread was started, but then he put up a respectable game the next day with 18pts-7rbs on 8-10 shooting. I wanted to reply and say that he was at least holding his own in that game, but I figured it could just be a good day for him.

Unfortunately, I'm going to have to defend Brooky here cause after that 18/7 day, he went 22pts/8rbs/3 blocks yesterday, and then 23/5 today. So what, he can't rebound, he couldn't do it in college either, but he's putting up some impressive numbers now. I hate being the first guy to defend him, but the numbers don't lie (Despite the fact that it still is the summer league afterall).

Despite the fact that I love ripping on him and would abhor having to praise him... it is only summer league. We probably all shouldn't start ripping him until the pre-season, at least. However, I still refuse to praise anything he does in summer league. It was the same way for our Wolves last year. Guys that are lottery picks SHOULD DOMINATE the summer league. There is no excuse for them NOT to.

Dumb GMs who made them lottery picks when everybody else had them going in the low 20s at best?

Not exactly aimed at Brook Lopez, but generally speaking ...

EDIT: By the way and leaving all "this is only SL" arguments behind ... does Russel Westbrook look like a legit 4th pick or not? You can say what you want about the rest of OKC's management, but Sam Presti is one smart man, imo.

However, the bottom line is that 90% of the guys in the summer league will never play in the NBA. Lottery picks are the Top 14 players (supposed to be) in the draft. They should dominate.

I really liked the Westbrook pick. He's going to be a great defender, continually attacks the lane, and is super athletic. It's always fun to see a point guard throw down dunks. I'd definitely take him over Love, so I guess that means that IMO he was drafted in the right spot.
