Marbury bought out. Heading to Boston? 2 years, 11 months ago #29665

At least, that is what ESPN is reporting:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3931801

Good deal for the Knicks I guess, since they save $2 million and $2million more in luxury tax savings.

Not sure how I feel about him on Boston, but it could turn out very well for him if they can integrate him into the team. At the very least we should get more unintentional comedy!!!

That is/will be just straight up awful. It's one thing to trade prospects and draft picks for ray allen and kg and win a title with a little help from pj brown, but the process of signing playoff run players (on any team, not just the c's) really makes me sick to my stomach. I mean, you take the Celtics, currently holding the 1st or 2nd record in the east and defending champions and they feel the need to add on mikki moore and starbury? Yes, I see why, but I really wish that teams would just be the teams they are through the season. Stocking up for the playoffs, especially as a result of a player being bought out and waived when a team had no intention of holding onto them in the first place, just really disgusts me.

As far as Stephon...there is no part of me that wishes to see him succeed anywhere, even Boston (I am from Boston and am a Boston fan). Part of me loathes the idea so much (based on Starbury being who he is and my sentiments from the first paragraph) that I wouldn't mind seeing the C's lose their identity and lose to the Hawks for real in the first round just for thinking its a good idea to bring him on board. I know I will catch some flack for this, at least from my friends back home, but Watching the C's repeat with Starbury playing some sort of role will be disappointing. I felt the same way about Cassell last year, but he felt more like insurance for a 2nd year unproven Rondo. I'd rather take my chances with Pruitt and House at backup PG and maintain some identity, dignity, and grace.

The Celtics need a big man and a wing, not a shoot first PG. Eddie House has that covered quite nicely.

So is Joe Smith not going to get bought out or what? He's so much better than Meeeeekki.

In the year 2000, after finishing the year strongly on the Celtics bench helping them win their second title in as many years, Stephon Marbury will will seek a bigger contract and a starting role. A role which will lead him back to Minnesota where he started his roller coaster of a career.

Haha, wouldn't that be great? I know he hates the cold (or whatever his piss poor excuse for wanting out of minny the first time around was) but he would at least have the chance to start here and play with his cousin bassy. I know that Marbury is a locker room cancer but I'd love to see it happen. Marbury was my favorite player during his short time here. Hell, my first pair of basketball shoes had to be And 1 because that's what Starbury wore. I'll probably get grilled for this, oh well.

Marco is a lucky man.

I feel ya mjohan. Good sentiments and I can emphasize with that. I am torn as well, but I think I'd want KG to succeed (aka win another title) more than I would want Marbury to fail (aka NOT win a title.)

If Marbury was going to ANY other team besides the Celtics or Wolves, then yes, I would want that team to crash and burn miserably.

I'm actually pretty excited to see this. No one could know what will happen next.

I'm indifferent to the Celtics winning another title, I don't care who wins as long as it's not the Lakers. I'm actually kind of rooting for the Cavs or Jazz to win it.

So I think it would be great entertainment to see the epic implosion that only Stephon Marbury can cause.

I have always been all about Stephon Marbury unintentional comedy (check out my "Chronicles of Marbury" if you don't believe me.)

With that said, I'd just hate to see him take KG down with him if he crashes and burns.

I'm sure KG doesn't have memory loss problems and remembers when Marbury demanded his trade out of MN. Now he is welcoming him with open arms.

It's a "fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me" situation. I won't feel bad if the King of the Cancers takes down this entire team in epic fashion.

There could be all kinds of Marbury shenanigans ahead, possibly some more tattoos on his head, a whole new set of interns to procreate with, fresh meat at coach to drive crazy (this should be good because Isiah Thomas was already certifiably insane, so we'll what happens to Doc Rivers, who seems mentally stable), and new teammates to get in fights with.

Should be good times...or he could be a perfectly upstanding citizen. Nobody knows, that's the best part.

Good points.

You make a very persuasive argument.

The fact of the matter is that Marbury was basically banned from playing basketball by 2 different administrations in NY. That coupled with the fact that he has superstar talent and they were paying him big money to sit and we have a big problem. Does someone who causes that much pain and suffering in the past turn the page and become a productive citizen? I would say no. Look out Boston.

And the former Wolf, or player with a Wolf connection pattern continues. Even Mikki Moore graced our training camp roster at one point. And Joe Smith maybe going back as well? Could it have gone ANY other way? Its salt in the wound, icing on the cake, or any other comparable metaphoric cliche'

In the dread of winter here, with Rodney Carney and Mike Miller as our 4th quarter post prescence, I am starting to miss KG a little bit. Marbury may be an exception, but it is hard to not feel cheated with the way things went over the last 10 years. As a downright, obsessed to the brim fan, it is even hard for me to stay 100% attentive right now. If thats the case, things must be ugly.

Where is the Sad thread when you need it?

Hahaha those were some pretty nice shoes though.

I hope he does go to Boston. I hope he goes and mess everything up and they get knock out of the first round so that our draft pick from them will be higher. That's all I care about.
