YoLeo - Your first order of business should probably be to go look for any free agents you might want... being that they are currently getting signed.

If you want to buyout someone, make a post in this thread so that Pants knows. Then he can go represent that player and accept or deny your buyout offer.

yoleo, just and fyi:

the way buyouts work on here is that you can buy them out for "0 yrs" which buys them out of their remaining contract and actually comes off the books immediately and doesn't count against your cap.

Say for instance, the Hornets are $13 mil over the cap and have $40 Mil remaining in your budget. Now say you wanted to buy Morris Peterson out of the final 2 yrs and $12 mil or so of his contract. What you would need to do is get one of the agents to represent Peterson so they could accept the buyout. You would now immediately be only $7 mil over the cap for the year as well as having $6 mil cleared off next year's cap, but would only have $28 mil left in your budget. In doesn't work like the real NBA but it's a lot easier to clean up the team of bad contracts.

Just don't get too low on budget or you'll end up like the Clippers owner who bought out the final 3 years of Kaman's contract and now has less budget left than he does cap space!

Thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate. After all of this, I only have 1 thing to say...

I have a lot to learn. I was never one to be well informed about salary caps, budgets, contracts, etc. etc. But I guess this is one of the best ways to learn a good deal about them. As you guys probably know, I love me my fantasy basketball, so I'll definitely be all caught up on how this thing will work. I just hope that all the other GM's are gonna pay attention for the ENTIRE year!

I won't be making any trades anytime soon until I figure out how everything works first... hehe. Unless it's Chandler for Okafor, I'm still irritated that it didn't happen in this league. Gr... maybe I can make it happen still, who knows.
