The Terminator movies are GREAT! T2 is one of the better action movies EVER! T1 was good but T3 kinda sucked. I don't really have high hopes for T4. Dark Knight was VERY good, but is not in my top. Ledger was the man though.
Here's mine:
(Anytime any of these movies are on TV or someone wants to watch them, I'd be more than willing to drop whatever I'm doing and watch. They are that good.)
1) The Shawshank Redemption
2) Gladiator
3) The Godfather
4) Lord of the Rings Trilogy
4) Braveheart

For me, this question has evovled over time. I went through a "movie critic phase" where everyting had to be Oscar worthy, until one day I realized entertainment is entertainment. I think it boils down to the "You're on a deserted island and you can take one movie with you" analysis.
I have two movies that I cannot decide between, but they both contain everything I love in a movie - Comedy, Action, Token hot chick, rewatchable (I also put five more on there that get "Desert Island" consideration):
Desert Island consideration:
1) Diggstown or Hard to Kill (You read that right.)
2) Shawshank Redemptionn
3) Rounders
4) Grandma's Boy
5) The Natural
The best movies I've ever seen, not necessarily the desert island test though:
Quality of Movie/Critic consideration:
1) The Godfather
2) Empire Strikes Back
3) The Departed
4) The Godfather Part II
5) The Two Towers (Lord of the Rings #2)

On a side note - T4 - I wasn't pumped until I saw a preview at Dark Knight because I didn't know (a) Christian Bale is John Conner and (b) that it was dark and serious and not Arnold cheese like T3.
So, yes, I am pumped about it.

yeah i still can't believe Christian Bale is John Connor, he's pretty much my favorite actor (followed by Arnold) and Terminator is my favorite movie franchise! i'm just a lucky guy i guess
and apparently Arnold will be in T4, with a digital face over Roland Kickinger's body. check this out.

I'm into my movies but I'll ashamedly admit that I've only seen T2 and none of the others but from what I saw I liked.
I don't really have a favourite movie, I have movies that I could watch over and over again until I can't watch them anymore and then I have movies that I could watch everyday and still enjoy them as if it were the first time I saw them.
Movies I could watch forever include:
1. Toy Story 1 - John Lasseter
Woody: Look, we're all very impressed with Andy's new toy.
Buzz: Toy?
Woody: T-O-Y! Toy!
Buzz: Excuse me, but I think the word you're searching for is "Space Ranger."
Woody: The word I'm searching for, I can't say, because there are preschool toys present.
2. The Godfather II - Francis Ford Coppola
Hyman Roth:"I don't trust a doctor who can hardly speak English."
3. Apocolypse Now - Francis Ford Coppola
Willard:"Oh man, the shit piled up so fast in Vietnam you needed wings to stay above it"
4. Breakfast at Tiffany's - Blake Edwards
[b]Holly:[b] The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of.”
5. The Wind that Shakes the Barley - Ken Loach
Damien: It's easy to know what you are against, but quite another to know what you are for.
6. Romeo and Juliet - Baz Lurman
7. The Wizard of Oz - Victor Flemming
8. One flew over the Cuckoo's nest - Milos Forman
If he's crazy, what does that make you?
9. The Deer hunter - Michael Cimino
10.Pulp Fiction - Quentin Tarantino

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is great! That's in my top ten. Rounders is as well.
As for the Terminator franchise, an issue I have with it is all the different actors playing John Connor. I think that's really lame. If you wanted to sit down and watch them all it would be kinda weird. Still, not a huge issue I guess. If T4 is awesome it will make up for T3, which the more I think about it... wasn't very good at all.

In no particular order...
The Godfather
The Godfather II
Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi (I like Ewoks... what can I say)
City Slickers
Snatch
Love Actually
Castaway
Indiana Jones and Last Crusade
Willow
Overloaded on these but they all are great...
Bad Boys
The Rock
Shawshank Redemption
Fear and Loathing - I'm not in a F and L place in my life but I wanted to give the movie it's due. college roommate and I spend almost a semester speaking to each other in 90% quotes of this movie. If you can't say it using a Fear and Loathing quote it must not really need saying.

I CONCUR!
Those are two of my all-time favorite "old school" high-octane action flicks. Others include: Con Air, Commando, and Hard Boiled.

haha... The list of movies I had on in college during the 2.5 weeks it took stupid Charter to get our cable set up (thanks to some industrious cable eating squirrel).
Billy Madison
Friday
Fear and Loathing
Office Space
Fight Club
I haven't been able to watch Friday since watching it everyday for 2 weeks. There is really nothing like getting to your first college house 1-2 weeks before school starting to hang. Friday and Billy Madison were the perfect movies to have on. over and over and over. In 2001 most people didn't have a vast DVD collection.
Interesting side note on that period. The day they got cable set up was Sept 10th late in the afternoon. I woke up early on Sept 11th and turned on the TV to enjoy it for the first time in a couple of weeks... that was THE Sept. 11th.

I'm surprised noboy mentioned 'Training Day' yet.
In no particular order:
Training Day
The Sixth Sense
Snatch
Predator
Terminator (saga)
Star Wars (saga)
LOTR (saga)
Godfather I and II
Deja Vu
Fallen (^(and that) I <3 Denzel, in a hetero way)
No Country for Old Men
and of course the new Batman (both parts).
Honorable mention: the new James Bond, "Casino Royale". I'm glad they made it from the beggining without interfering with the legend of Sean Connery and the cheezy saga.
Have any of you gu7ys heard about the "A-Team" movie? Look at the rumoured cast, this is going to be hilarious.

I don't have the 3-5 hours dedicated to succinctly answer the general post, but I will say this... I still froth at the mouth whenever I remember that Pulp Fiction beat out Shawshank Redemption for Best Picture.
(Please note I have nothing against Pulp Fiction, it's a good movie. But Shawshank... can I make the Bassy/Chris Paul analogy here???)

Training Day and Casino Royale are GREAT movies, I agree. However, they are not Top 10 worthy for me.
I also love Denzel... in a hetero way, of course.
