Wow, this was a historic election and win for Obama. I hope everyone remembers this, and takes a moment to realize what just happened.

Also, I hope everyone voted that had a chance. I did.

It's big news down here I can tell you.

I don't have an allegiance one way or another, but the sentiment for Obama is as high here as it is in Europe. And as for Sarah Palin, what a joke.

Rhetoric time is over now. Come January he is going to have to start delivering us all from a particularly large mess, financially and military.

Sometimes you really have to wonder about what most of this country is thinking. We need moments like these were over 50% of us collectively pull our heads our for 5 minutes to keep hope alive.

I think we all understand that hope is so high right now it will be very hard for Barack to stay on the countries collective good-side, but it sure was nice to actually enjoy listening to our leader speak. There hasn't been one politician on either side of the aisle I would say that about during my lifetime.

Yes. I view this as a great sign in many different ways.

I realized last night that I had never truly felt patriotic or proud of my country before. It was always just the lesser of two evils until obama came along. I will definitely remember last night and I most certainly look forward to the next 4 years. I mean 8.

As most of us here are too young to remember most of this...

Upon arrival, the Lakers quickly learned their three black players (Baylor, Boo Ellis and Ed Fleming) couldn't check into their hotel or eat anywhere in town except for the Greyhound bus station. Here's how Hundley and Baylor remembered the incident in the book:

Hundley: "The people who put on the game wanted me to talk to Elgin about playing. After pregame warmups, I went into the dressing room and he was sitting there in his street clothes. I said, 'What they did to you isn't right. I understand that. But we're friends and this is my hometown. Play this one for me.' Elgin said, 'Rod, you're right, you are my friend. But, Rod, I'm a human being, too. All I want to do is be treated like a human being.' It was then that I could begin to feel his pain."

Whenever I heard Jermiah Wright being vilified I thought of that passage and how older African Americans can be judged for their anger after being treated this badly themselves or even just from being raised by parents who were treated this badly.

Jeramiah Wright spoke with a rhetoric that insulted us white folk and got him labled "unamerican" But it's just that kind of attitude and fortitude that got us to where we are today, with the first African American president. Blacks of the past criticized America bacause it deservred to be criticized. It was out of love for their country that they stood up and demanded change.

I work in an extremely conservative environment and it's a bit disappointing how negative and unconsciously ignorant these people are. This is easily the most significant accomplishment during my lifetime. Never have other countries around the world cared so much and been so enthralled with who our President is.

SI SE PUEDE.

Yeah, I could type pages and pages about how pumped up I am about this election on so many levels... It renews my faith in man-kind (and America) in general.

Perhaps the most underrated part of this election is the incredible amount of goodwill this creates with the rest of the world. I truly believe that countries will slowly begin to see the Man at the helm is a different one than they've ever seen. The amount of Global understanding we may have created is amazing.
