I watched Grizzly man.It was decently interesting. The dude that got killed by Grizzlies (Timothy Treadwell) was an extreme wacko. My non-scientific analysis is that he was bi-polar. Extremely bi-polar...
I recommend Grizzly man to anyone. Tim's Bi-polarity is not in question.
I'm not going to review this movie but I was taken to Sex and the City Friday by my wife. It was like the inverse of going to see Star Wars. Instead of being mostly guys with a few girlfriends dragged along it was the opposite. Crazy. I was glad I went just to appreciate the bizarre scene.
I thought Grizzly Man was really interesting, and everyone should see it. I enjoyed it a lot.
My girlfriend went to Sex & the City movie and filled me in on the crazy, estrogen-filled atmosphere. It sounded crazy - I heard of so many "sex & the city" parties this weekend. Strange, indeed.
The wife wants to go to that as well. Ahhhhhhh women. She loves the show and wants to go with a friend... and suggested that I stay home with CW Jr. I would have no problems with NOT seeing the movie, even though I have watched my fair share of episodes of the TV show every now and then. So yeah, thanks for the heads up. I guess CW Jr. and I will stay home, share a bottle of hennessey and hit up the forums that night. I'm only kidding... about CW Jr. actually typing on the forums that is.
My wife used to use the Sex and the City DVD's as backdrop to her life. So over the course of 5 years I'd see the whole series (and then some). I'd take SATC over the 100 Maid of Honor clones that I refuse to see. So here is my review... if you've been sucked into watch the tv show with your girl it is a good movie as a "take one for the team" pick or to get credit to bring the misses to Iron man. If you've never seen the show it'd be a miserable two hours.
For the record my wife considers it the best thing to happen in her life during last month.
The first comment is correct for me as well. And honestly, the show isn't that bad (as long as you are watching it unedited on HBO or the DVDs.) The edited re-runs on cable are just suck.
As for the second comment... oh geeez, that's what I was afraid of.

That's funny ish! I'm with you on going to SATC over pretty much any other chick flick though. It is actually a pretty well done show, and I usually find myself somewhat enjoying it when I get talked into watching it. I will probably go to it with my woman too (since she wants to go again?!?...women.) to score attending a chick flick points. I definitely won't feel masculine walking into the theater though, but will probably exchange knowing faces with a few other woman-bound guys in the seats.

So I saw The Strangers.
It was actually one of the better horror movies I've seen in a long while. It was good because it wasn't just a graphic shock flick like Saw and Hostel. It was a really good pyschological thriller. If you have not seen the trailer for it and want to watch the movie... DON'T! The trailer gives something away which really disappointed me. Other than that, its very good. I don't get scared at movies but this did have it's moments.

I must have told you about that huh? Yeah, that's the most scared I've ever been at a movie... when Gellert, Teddy Ballgame and I went to like an 11PM showing.

The Incredible Hulk - 8.75/10
Won't be as well recieved as Iron Man was because the character of Bruce Banner isn't as witty and funny as the character of Tony Stark, but it's just as good of a movie overall.
It had more action and an actual "bad guy" to center your focus on, which seems to be two of the main problems people had with Ang Lee's version.
It's been a good year for superhero movies thusfar and hopefully the trend will continue with The Dark Knight, Hellboy II and Hancock.

Had a free ticket so I went to The Happening. 6.5 out of 10.
I think M. Night Shyamalan has really lost it. It started off promising but ended up being pretty dull and not scary at all. Also, the dialogue was weak at best and the acting not great either. Oh yeah, and you could see the ending coming a mile away. Worth renting if you really want to see it. Red Box it.

Saw Untraceable on demand this weekend. It was pretty decent all things considered. I'd say its worth the rental (Red Box it!) Anyways, only one thing bothered me about it. There was a MASSIVE "Duh!!!" moment which almost ruined the movie. It's like, there's no way that character would EVER do that in real life. Oh well, still, it was worth seeing.

This is my really long review of The Dark Knight:
This was a really good movie and everything you've heard about Heath Ledger's performance is true. People will say it's the best super-hero/comic book move of all time and I won't like them saying that because I think it is just a really good movie period. Not only do you get deep psychological character studies of at least three characters but Gotham City is almost a character in itself and you see the psychology of a mass of people as well.
That reason above is why it is 2 hours and 30 minutes long. To go fully in depth for all the main characters and the city the story needed to be this long. I tried to think of a scene that was unnecessary and really there aren't any. They might have been able to make scenes a little shorter (mainly action scenes) but that could have destroyed the pacing so I'm content with the length of all the scenes. In fact the only real way they could have made this movie shorter is by taking out one of the secondary characters and making their way of bringing the 3 main characters together in a different (and shorter) way.
I'm not saying all this about the length because I thought it was too long. It's just that this movie exhausted me. Yes I watched it a 1:20 a.m. and would have been tired regardless, but after I walked out of the theater it felt like I had just got done working out as weird as that sounds. This movie drains you because it is so intense (both dramatically and action-wise)for so long and you get so absorbed in it. Most of the "comedy" is in the beginning and while there are some humorous bits later in the movie that are there to ease the tension they are minor chuckles and then you are thrown right back into the intensity. This is not a knock against the movie, just an observation (I've only felt exhausted like this after maybe two other movies). In fact, I'm not sure I'd be exhuasted the same way if I watched it again (as I already know what is going to happen) or on DVD for the first time (as intensity is greatly diminished on a TV set).
I didn't think this was a perfect film. There was one major thing that I didn't like but won't discuss as I don't want to ruin anything at all for anyone. On a smaller scale Christian Bale's voice while in costume is really weird, like he's trying to hard (you probably wouldn't have noticed had I not said anything). There also are a few lame/cheesy lines that aren't there for humor and are kind of stupid as well. These last two things are small things though and don't really detract from the movie as a whole.
If you have the slightest bit of interest or curiosity in this movie at all, then go see it in a theater at least. I say at least because it is playing in IMax as well and I would actually suggest that over the theater (they shot some scenes specifically for an IMax theaters and it's pretty great). I can't stress the importance of seeing this in a theater enough. I mean if you are EVER going to see this movie then see it in the theater.

Wow man, great review! Definitely Howl worthy.
It was a great movie, but its not "one of the best ever", I also agree with that. Right now its ranked #3 all-time on IMDB.com, but I've found that those rankings will move downwards in time. People just go vote "10's" right after they see movies, but it will even out.
I don't really have much to add, as I agreed with pretty much everything you said. Let's see... I didn't even notice how long it was because I was so absorbed in it. Honestly, it could have gone on longer and I would have been ok with that. As you said, there were no unnecessary scenes.
I want to go see it again, this time in the IMAX. And yes, if you have any inkling of wanting to see this... you GOTTA go in the theatres at least once. It would definitely ruin the experience to see for the first time on DVD.
Hey Ryan, if you want, you should email me your "major thing" that you didn't like... I'm intrigued as to what that is.
P.S. Ledger's Joker is definitely the best villain in any super hero movie to date. And he's up there as one of the better (but not the best) villains in any movie, in my opinion.

I e-mailed the thing I didn't like to you.
And yes Ledger's Joker was great and he was a great villian. The problem I have is when people compare him to Jack Nicholson's Joker even though it was different styles of Batman and different directors so comparison is useless.

I'm going to try to sneak off the movie tomorrow.
Ryan, you mentioned the funny voice Bale uses while in costume. He did it in the first movie too. I was just chatting about that to a friend like 2 hours ago. I'm not sure what the deal is with it.

Yeah, I didn't really notice it the first time around (well I did but it didn't really bother me). I think the length of the movie plus the fact that he is in batman form more just made it stand out.
