Re:The Music Thread 1 Year, 4 Months ago Howls: 124
I pretty much like anything and everything except Country, which blows donkey balls.

My favorite is probably Rap (not commercialized crappy radio "top 40" rap) and R&B.

My favorite group is Bone Thugs and Harmony. I realized some people may say that fall into the "commercialized crappy radio rap", but that's only been a few songs from the last two cds. They have been around for about 15 years and they are an amazing and timeless group.

I have too many favorite individual rappers to list.

If any of you like rap and have (a lot) of time on your hands, here are some very unheralded groups/rappers that I really love and would be worth your time to check out (if you can find any of their music):

Brother Ali
Blackalicious
Tommy Lou
Andre Nickatina
Tech N9ne
Huli Gee's

Great list. Even though I like a lot of rap and whatnot, I also like most of those bands from your list as well. Nice.

My favorite rap group of all time is Bone Thugs too. Fell in love with them and with rap back in JR high when Thuggish Ruggish bone came out.
I've seen them in concert 3 times...they are crazy. Especially Krayzie Bone..that dude could really rap. I also meet Krayzie Bone and Wish Bone at Myth night club about 2 years ago...they are really cool dudes. After the show they just came out for drinks at the bar and me and my girlfriend asked them for some pictures...it was a experience I will never forget.

I also like every type of music except country...but I'm a bigger fan of rap, but now days I cannot listen to a lot of hiphop on the radio..a lot of it is garbage.

Here are my favorite 6(I was going to do 5 but I want it to add Lil Wayne)rappers of a time, in order:

1. Tupac
2. Jay Z
3. Eminem
4. Nas
5. Kanye..but I hate his assholeness.
6. Lil Wayne

Whoa 9Deuce! What an awesome story... major props to you! I'm very jealous. I've only seen Bone Thugs in concert once and they were awesome. I agree, Krayzie Bone is insane. He's one of my favorite individual rappers of all time.

Good post and a Howl to you.

All time favorite: Sly Stone, with and without the family stone

Other favs:

Santana (pre-1975; LOTUS album favorite album, triple lp live from japan 1974)
Jacob Miller (reggae)
Dub reggae: Augustus Pablo, King Tubby, Scientist, lee Perry
Rap: Jeru the Damaja, Antipop Consortium, about 1/2 of what NAS has ever done
Miles Davis electric albums (In a Silent Way, Bitches Brew, On the Corner, Pangea, etc)
I recently got very into Fleet Foxes

Old stand-bys: Paul Simon, Soundgarden, GNR, Ozzy, Sabbath, Neil Young (sans crazy horse), Flaming Lips, Zeppelin, Grateful dead pre-78

Hawaiian music
Old country (usually with lap/pedal steel) that sounds like a crackly old jukebox or am radio
