I think that we should have a thread dedicated to trade talks and proposals. We should have a set rule that the individual has to use the RealGM Tradechecker and provide the link. You should make this a sticky if you agree DeROK or CW.

I wanted to create this thread because I had seen an article stating the Jason Williams may be on the trading block. They are looking for a \"much needed\" SF and we just may have a SF available. Actually, two.

Marko Jaric
Trenton Hassell

Jason Williams

Tradechecker

I am not sure if Miami would want the contracts back but it would fill their need at SF. It would fill our need at the PG spot and get rid of some lengthy contracts in exchange for an expiring veteran that can work with Foye. What does everyone think? Would both teams go for it?

Very good idea Withers. Consider it stickied.

I'd be down with that trade for sure.

I don't think Miami will do it for the sole fact that they already have 15 contracts on their roster, not counting three potential rookies/contracts that they could sign if they get the room. No way they do a 1 for 2...

That's a good point, I didn't take their roster size into consideration.

I thought so too. Thank you.

Has Anyone heard ANY trade rumors at all?? I can't believe there are zero trade rumors swirling... especially since we are over the roster limit & now signed that no-name Center...ANYONE?!?

Nope. I haven't heard a peep. Signed John Edwards!?!? What the hell is going on? We better trade Blount or something.

My guess is that they ship out Juwan Howard, and that will probably be it... He at least has some value around the league.

Any word on whether we plan on signing Richard or not??

No idea. We've got 16 players under contract, so two would have to leave before we can sign Richard.

Well this is probably so unlikely as a NHL game in purgatory, but anyways:

With Kirilenko wanting out of Utah (who can blame him), I just recognized that contractwise, we could get him for Blount and Davis, ans thereby having at least one 2-for-1-trades ready we obviously need.

But this is sooooooooo not going to happen because

~ What do I know if the Wolves would like to get rid of Ricky as much as I do...
~ Blount and Davis might be the absolute and complete antithesis to the kind of players Sloan (or any coach with half a brain, at least for Blount) would like to have on his roster
~ Kirilenko's heavy and long contract will eat up much of the cap flexibility the Wolves have gained by the KG trade and they have still not extended AL Jefferson's contract. On the other hand, AK47 makes a little bit less than Blount and Davis together and his does run only one year longer than the one of Listless McBlount. Nonetheless, highly unlikely, because the Jazz would never take on Blount's 3 years, no matter how much they could benefit from Davis' slashing ability and ball distribution in a defensive system, that could make up for his lapses.

But...when there were rumors that the Wolves would trade for AK47, of which I am a huge fan, while KG was still on board, I really wished that to happen, because I thought them to be able of wreaking BIG havoc on any opponent together, especially with AK47 having been know to be that sort of defensive disruptor, KG has always lacked at his side. Heck, we could have even drafted Kirilenko if McHale has had ANY interest in scouting...but that is to be said of almost every other proven veteran in this league.

And I still think he might be a good fit on the Wolves, especially if we go small an play Al at C and AK47 at PF, who would surely benefit from each other's game. Adding Kirilenko would also give Brewer much time to develop, but it will surely mess with the Wolves' youth movement, and depth chart (since AK47 is more a natural SF than PF), taking away precious minutes from Smith and Gomes, who probably is a similar type of player as AK47 to start things of with. Although this would at least a doable trade in which the Wolves would get a somewaht decent player in return...but won't happen, anyways ! No chance...ever!

Sooo...both SI and ESPN refer to the associated press which quotes McHale to have several deals on the table to slim down the roster, but have to wait until the potential trade partners have sorted out their salary cap situations.

...*sigh*...that sounds exactly like \"nothing is going to happen\", doesn't it? The more I think about it, the less I understand why we had to sign thatcenterfromthedepths.

At least I learned now that Chris Richard has been given an offer sheet (which I think is good, especially if we manage to trade someone) and that Wittman thinks McCants is \"night and day\" better than last season (which I won't believe until I see...no wait...until I read about it), although with regards to the impressions Britt Robson published in his blog, these are just nice words to hide that he will definitely see less playing time.

By the way: Weird thing McHale said about God putting together people in a certain way which is messed with by an injury...does it really need all those religious references all the time? As if the Lord was assembling every human in his little hobbyroom, asking himself \"hmm...where did I put the noses again?\" or exlaiming \"hahaha, I'll glue those two twins together at the hip! That looks funny!\". Really strange...but maybe it's just because I'm European.

Anyways...according to him (Robson, that is), Hassel (have proposed that myself) and Blount (who would take him???) are the most likely victims of being dealt because their names were not mentioned while bragging about the new roster, so I look forward to something happening - although I do not believe it will.

Speaking of looking forward: College Wolf might be happy to see a lot of PT for Gomes, considering that McHale seems to be enamored with him as well.

Re:Timberwolves Trade Thread 4 years, 4 months ago #1480

Good post Sanyarin.

- I don't expect too much too happen. I highly doubt that McFail has \"multiple deals in the works.\" That's just baloney, like usual.

- Don't assume the Wolves Front Office has the same interests in mind as we all do here.

- Also, don't assume the Front Office is incapable of making a bad trade (because they surely are.)

- I made a thread linking to Britt Robson's article. He's great... my favorite Wolves writer.

- I guess it's good that we gave Richard an offer sheet. That way we retain his rights for a year if he goes and plays somewhere else.

- I agree that the God references are weird.

- I would prefer Hassell stays, but if it means getting rid of Blount as well I'm all for it.

- They will play Gomes big minutes if they know what's good for them.

Neither McHale or Wittman mentioned Blount or Hassell at the luncheon yesterday. I am assuming this means that they are the two guys most likely to be traded.
