If we end up with the number 1 or number 2 pick in the draft would you trade the pick, Rashad McCants, sign and trade Richard to Memphis for their possible number 3 or 4, Rudy Gay, Javaris Crittenton, and their number 28 pick?

Wolves get:
number 3 or 4 pick
number 28 pick
Rudy Gay
Javaris Crittenton

Grizz get:
number 1 or 2 pick
McCants
Richard

Wow. That is very tempting. I am torn. I almost think I would say "Yes" I would do the trade because Rudy Gay is a young stud and we'd still be getting a Top 4 back in return. Plus we could perhaps go after a center with that #28 pick (or use it to trade up with our second rounders.)

Yeah, I guess I would do it.

I would think Memphis would do this also, what do you think?

That would be nice with a lineup of:

Foye/Crittenton
Mayo/Brewer
Gay/Gomes/Brewer
Jefferson/Gomes
rookie C/Jefferson

I dunno. Probably if it netted them Beasley for sure. Not sure if they need Rose that bad. If we had the #2 pick and they were faced with getting rose we'd probably have to throw in at least one 2nd rounder and maybe someone like Craig Smith too. I'd still do it, the more I think about it.

Yeah, I would do it. Beasely and Rose aren't guaranteed to be anything. Rudy Gay is a proven entity and we'd still have a Top 4 pick which we could use to draft Mayo. You'd be pretty set at the 2, 3, and 4 with that trade.

Oh man that deal is hitting the sweet spot on being a tough call. Great trade idea.

With NBA trades you really need to focus on the starters involved...

So I'd say that deal is McCants and Rose/Beasley for Gay and Mayo.

If those were the principles I'd make the deal.

Note:
I wouldn't make the trade unless the we got Mayo with the lower pick. I see Mayo, Gay and Jefferson as the 3 playoff caliber guys. I see Lopez as a role player and anyone else as a complete crap shoot.

I also don't like the idea of packaging the 2nd rounders because those would be nice to send with the 28th pick to move up in the 1st round for Hibbert.

They've had a year to look at Conley. I guess whether or not they'd make the deal for Rose would depend on what they think of him.

If we wanted to go all Indiana/Golden State on this the deal would be:

Memphis 3rd/4th
Rudy Gay
Mike Conley
poo poo platter

Twolves top 2
McCants
Brewer
poo poo platter

The end goal being to have zero players on either the Wolves or the Grizzlies team than any causal fans know. I kid...

If they really wanted to trade up into the top 2 in the draft they would trade Conley, 3rd/4th pick, and 28th pick to Miami for their pick. They love Rudy Gay, he's not going anywhere.

But going on the trade that you have given, I would do that in a heartbeat.

That isn't enough to get into the top 2.

theres no way they give up gay just to move up 2 spots.

however, if that was offered to US, yes, we would do that.

Well this is Memphis we're talking about. They gave away Gasol for 15 cents on the dollar, so you never know.

If they didn't have such a huge glut of PG's already I could see them being overly enamored with Rose due to his college roots. I don't really know why they'd do this otherwise.

Ehhhh, I don't think so. He was in Memphis for less than 1 total year. They'd want him because he's a stud, not because he went to the college. Just my thoughts, I could be wrong!

It is unlikely that they'd trade Gay but the fact that it is two spots is relatively insignificant. In the NBA there is 1-3 studs so trading into the range to draft one of those studs is expensive.

We should have just drafted Gay so that we wouldn't have to trade for him. Bummer...

I agree that Gay would have been the better pick than either Roy or Foye. He fit our needs better than either of them.
