Are you invested? 3 Months ago Howls: 17
Based on the fun shoe thread started by Sota Wolf, I gots to thinkin...

How much have you invested in this fave team of yours?

Are you/have you/how long have you been a season ticket holder? How often do you buy tickets? Do you have an NBA pass on DirectTV? Have you bought Twolves merchandise and how much have you spent? When was your first/last/most memorable purchase? How does this compare to your Vikes/Twins/Swarm/Saints/etc expenditures?

For me, I've been a very casual fan, and I've bought probably some discounted items at your local Target and whatnot, like some shirts. Maybe $50 tops in merchandising. The few games I've gone to before were gimme tickets, some nice, some nosebleeds. I've always identified with the team, but I've never put my wallet where my mouth was. A lot of it also has to do with disposable income and living outside the cities.

Last year was the first time I watched a bunch of games within one season, thanks to our new DirectTV and FSN and our awesome DVR. Before then, it was up to fate and regular cable - local/ESPN/TNT.

Now, thanks to the Pay Your Pick promotion, I'm the proud owner of two season tickets. I can say I've spent hundreds now, but at quite a deal! (Who else am I going to see in the nosebleeds?)

And the wolves are the only team I'm willing to invest in. I don't think I've spent a penny on any other team, except for some reasonably priced Twins tickets, especially since that's my parents' team of choice.

Now your turn... How invested are you? My jaw is ready to be dropped and my envy is already green to go.

This is a GREAT idea for a thread... props to you. It could also be pretty interesting.

I don't have a ton of time right now, but lets see about the Wolves:

- 3rd season coming up of Wolves season tickets = about $900 or so each year.

- Spreewell Jersey (hahahaha I know )

- 2 KG jerseys (1 was free though from the Wolves.)

- Soon to have a new Gomes jersey.

- Watch almost every road game on TV or any home games I don't attend. (P.S. DVR is the shit!)

- I've got 2 pairs of TWolves workout/basketball shorts.

- Pair of KG Adidas II shoes. Soon to get another for my fall basketball league this year.

- Spend an obtuse amount of time on the TWB forums...

Compared to other sports:

- I hardly ever go to Twins games or watch a full game on TV. I'll go to maybe 1 or 2 per year... usually with a bunch of buddies.

- I've got Vikings season tickets (3rd row in the endzone), because my dad passed them down to me. He had them for over 20 years. He only goes to like 2 of those games per year and I go to the other 6 or re-sell them if I can't make it. Those are like $1,500 total for two tickets for the full 10 home game season.

- Don't go to WNBA/Gophers or anything else like that unless I get free tickets. Actually, I went to one Gophers FB and one Gopher's BB game last year because college buddies were in town those weekends.

I think that's about it for me.

If I decide to get them again, this will be my third season as a WOlves ticketholder. I get married in September, so my unilateral decision making is coming to an end.

2007-2008 - $860

2006-2007 - $200 (for all games in the nosebleed section. Still, what a deal).

$5 each - Kandi jersey, Cassell Jersey, Big Irv jersey

$5 on a Wolves t-shirt

If I don't get tickets, I'll be getting NBA LP.

I still play NBA 2k7 on the 360, though I'm balls deep in Madden 09 now (at least when I have time).

EDIT - OH, used to be a Vikings season ticketholder, but realized I prefer watching the NFL better at home with friends, beer, commentary, and the ability to fall asleep 8 times every Sunday afternoon.

I have some Wolves T-shirts and I go to about 10 home games per year, and I have watched literally every game on TV or in person since the 03 playoff run started. If the game is blacked out I watch it online. Heck, I even watched the summer league games!

I also watch all of the Vikings games, and I go to a game or two a year if my friend's father doesn't use his season ticket for a particular game.

Actually, zero.

Can't get Wolves gear out hear for the most part, except for the odd remaindered KG top.

But I am going to invest and cop the postage charges.

Re:Are you invested? 3 Months ago Howls: 41
Well, some. Of course no money into tix since I have only been to Milwaukee and therefore visited only the Bucks a few times. LP also makes near to no sense to me and I simply won't buy German or other Pay-TV which shows some NBA games, but only preselected ones which doesn't offer you any choice and therefore probably will show the *yuck* Lakers 18 out of 20 times.

I do have a nice collection of NBA jerseys, though, which cost me some serious money back in the days when I was still at High School an my early College days ... when I didn't had much at all. I have already lamented the fact that over here in Europe, we do get offered jersey replicas that are completely different from those sold in the U.S.A. but still reasonably expensive (around $ 70-100 regular price). One might argue if the differences make them better or worse, but I prefer the "originals" from the U.S., so I am very proud on the ones I bought when i was over there.

After all, I think I have around 27 NBA jerseys from the mid 90s to the early 2000s until the design was changed to the V-Neck by most teams which I highly dislike (as everybody will know by now). Additionally, there are some t-shirts plus some stuff from the colleges of North Carolina and Georgia Tech.

Part of my collection are T-Wolves jerseys of

- Garnett (home, US)
- Garnett (away, US)
- Garnett (alternate away, Europe)
- Marbury (away, Europe)

I was also happy to score some imported Wolves posters when Basketball was still hip in Germany in the late 90s. It was nonetheless difficult to get some Wolves stuff, because everybody was a fan of the Bulls, Lakers and other big market teams over here and the Wolves were more of an afterthought if know at all. To give you an impression: Although you could by t-shirts of the Bulls, Lakers, Sonics, Pacers, Heat, Hornets and a lot of other teams, I had to MAKE my own Wolves-Shirts back then, because there simply weren't any on sale back then. Don't ask me about the current situation when Basketball isn't as popular as it has been 10 years ago.

Hmm...

3 seasons of League Pass prior to college, now I'm going on my 5th season on League Pass post-college, so 8 years total. Roughly $1,400 in all

Jerseys - Replica JR Rider, Replica KG home and away, Replica KG Team USA, Authentic Marbury, Authentic Customized DeROK. Roughly $440

8 Hats - Roughly $160

9 T-shirts - Roughly $180

KG Adidas 1 - $70

9 Road Games Attended - Average Ticket Price at least $50 ~ $450 total

Bobble heads/souvenirs/random stuff - $300 easily

Hmm... What else?

TWolvesBlog.com domain name for 3 years - $30

Grand total: Minimum $3,030 lifetime, but that is over nearly 20 years.

The Wolves also gave me a solid $1,000 worth of stuff for the "Can You Feel It?" video. Pretty sweet!

Re:Are you invested? 3 Months ago Howls: 65
This could get embarrasing...

3 years of full season tickets...
18 games purchased mostly off ebay for my 1st winter in MPLS (pre-season tix)
3-5 games per year every year before that
2 road games in Denver & 1 in Boston.
2 watches & a necklace from my younger days.
somewhere from 6-8 tshirts/sweatshirts/long sleeved shirts
1 awesome shooting shirt
a hat & a visor
1 authentic pair of warm up pants
5 jerseys
1 half-season of league pass for my last year in South Dakota when FSN stopped carrying a majority of games.
7-10 posters/banners/pennants
a few bobbleheads as well as other random souvenir stuff.
Yeah, that's enough...like I said, actually kind of embarrassing. But that is over a period of 15 years or so. I don't want to add up the $.

Ha! Bonk you reminded me of some stuff!

2 jackets
2 watches
3 sweatshirts
3 shooting shirts
1 baseball jersey
1 football jersey

It's completely ridiculous. I think I could go a good 2-3 weeks wearing a different Timberwolves shirt/jersey before I ran out of clothes!

What can I say? You throw a Wolves logo on something and it suddenly becomes a must-have item for me.
