I'm also looking forward to the season, and here's my top reason:

- Big Al's heard about all he can stand of Klove's passing and outside shooting. I'll bet he's thinking -- "I can do that..." and he's working hard on his game right now.

So Im looking forward to see the improvements in AJ's game -- and I'll be watching to see who in the news media picks this up first, just as a little side action.

My 2nd to the top reason:

- I wanna see how Mike Miller's shooting opens things up for Big Al. And also where they slot MM into the lineup, and how often MM and McCants are on the floor together.

The last point should give some insight into what the coaching staff is thinking about the future of the team.

We've got a lot of tools this season, it will be a big test for RandyW to see if/how he uses them. If he shows some creative thinking, cool. If he does not, maybe he gets the hook sooner than we expect. McHale has done his job, now it is the coach's turn.

If Big Al is Big Al, Kevin Love plays the solid game we all think he can, Miller's shooting stays where it's at, then this team's playoff hopes really rest on Foye.

Can he come back and be the player we all saw his rookie year, or will it be more of the horrible D from last season?

I don't think the Western Conference's top 8 is an unpenetrable fortress. I'm not expecting playoffs, but I also think we're going to see some major strides this season and that the team will at least be fun to watch and root for.

Great posts. I think it is reasonable to expect that NBA players improve each year in all phases of their game. Although we don't get to see him on the court much, I am puzzled why Madsen's offensive game has not progressed. If his game is power, why haven't we seen physical progress in a way similar to the strides that Craig Smith made last year? I know MadDog is strong, but I think he could be even stronger. Likewise with Collins. For the money they are paid, every player should have a shooting regimen like Mike Miller's and a workout regimen like Karl Malone's. Michael Conley is a great ballhandler, but he works to get even better:

We have some budding stars on the team who can take the next step this year. I look forward to our role players turning it up a notch too. If they learn to play team defense like San Antonio, Houston or Boston, then we will really have something.

Actually Mark Madsen says in his blog that he was an Oakland A's fan when he was young. He does not say who he likes today. I am teasing you about the Yanks. Teams are like wives or girlfriends (or husbands or boyfriends) they are not perfect or the best of all avaliable but they are ours and we love and support them no matter what. The strange thing about our sports team relationships though is that although our significant others can love us back our teams can't. So why do we continue to have relationships with them? I don't have an answer to that question.

I will, though, ask you to consider, Mad_Dog04, to make the Twins your second favorite team. They really are a joy to follow and support. They are well run, always competitive and the team consists of gentlemen which I know you respect in a player.
