Re:Game Thread: Wolves at Milwaukee Bucks (10/6/08) 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago Howls: 11
Hi guys!
Just got back from the game and was proudly cherring on the twolves against the measly bucks. The recap and play by play already posted here are pretty accurate as far as going beyond stats goes. Here's what I noticed:

1. The Bucks are WEIRD. I just moved to Milwaukee from Boston (hence the devotion to BigAl), and sat in many a preseaon game during the lean years out east. NEver, and I mean nver, did I experience or partake in such a lackluster support for a home team, no matter how poor they were performing. Sure Bogut was "ill" and redd and jefferson didn't play much (jefferson wasn't even on the bench for the 2nd quarter), but fans were quickly encouraging players to shoot the ball and hoping that Frieje (?) got the ball...he became an instant Scalabrine...and its all the Bucks fans could cheer for.

1a. Bucks fans who think Richard Jefferson will help them are wrong.

2. Jefferson looked great. He was able to get the ball inside, draw a defender into the air, and up and under like he never hurt his knee. He was active on the glass and played substantially more minutes (and harder minutes) than I was expecting him too. He also seems to be enjoying being the focal point personality wise with him teamates...him and Richards were always laughing and joking and everyone seemed to go out of their way to congratulate him on his performance/presence.

3. Mike Miller took a while to find a rhythm and it looks like the Wolves were struggling a little to work him intot he plans. He rarely (if ever) got the ball in a position to catch and shoot...and he couldn't create his own shot very easily, even against the Bucks backups. I would like him to get open looks rather than have to put the ball on the floor.

4. Ryan Gomes started at SF and matched up decently against Richard Jefferson, but fell prey to the tweener pitfalls. He was too slow for RJ overall and too small when matched up against Charlie Villanueva (who warmed up while Gomes was on him).

5. Kevin Love will get his. He looked comfortable roaming the perimeter as well as flashing inside and was active on the glass. He rebounds but needs some intensity when defending one-on-one, especially when opposing players are driving to the basket.

6. Foye looked hesitant. Kind of like he was trying really hard to get his teammates involved and working Miller in and not jacking too many of his own shots, but the result was not often pretty. Most of the Wolves damage came early via dumping the ball inside to Al. Later brewer got hot with his jumper. I am curious to see what the Wolves offense looks like when it is clicking well, sets are run, and Foye knows where the options are a little better, including knowing which option he is.

7. Telfair is fast. But his brain is not quite as fast as his feet. I really hope he gets it.

8. Craig Smith has a mohawk. Or at least he had one recently.

9. The Wolves unis aren't bad. But the absolute worst part is that they say "Wolves' on the butt of the pants. Not quite as large and gaudy and low riding as those college girl sweatpants that say "pink" or "cutie" om them, but tasteless nonetheless.

10. The Timberwolves wasted the Bucks, I was there to cheer for them, I saw Love's first NBA points, and I saw Al jefferson. I have decided to get league pass so I can continue this feeling of hapiness.

If someone can help me out by telling me how to post photos, I'll post what I have. They'renot great, but they are better than no tv and no radio coverage!

WOW... another amazing recap. A Howl for you too!

Thanks for this (and you too YoLeo)... when we can't watch the games, it's really nice to read informative recaps like this. It is going to be a good season on the TWB forums with contributors like this.

As for posting pictures, first you will need to upload them online if they are ones you took yourself. Put them on your comp and then I recommend you sign up for http://www.Photobucket.com

- After you upload them onto Photobucket, it will have different boxes of the code. Take the box code that says "IMG" and post it into a thread here on TWB.
- Then, after you have posted it... delete the "IMG" part at the front and back.
- Then, highlight the link of your picture and click the "img" box above this text box here on TWB. It is by the other buttons of "li", "URL", "Hide", etc.

Why don't you try it and see if it works? If not, I can edit your post and see what you did wrong.

Hope that helps.

Semi-important error in game:
It's been corrected in all the box scores, but they took away a 3-pointer by Love and credited it to Corey Brewer. I guess they accidentally got Love's assist to Corey's 3 mixed up, therefore Brewer ended with 12 points and Love 13 points.

Boo!!

Thanks college wolf, but my computer is so bugged out that it wont let me onto photobucket, flickr, or shutterfly. I've tried all those tricks, but my old G3 tower sounds like a helicopter when I wake it up and I just don't have much faither in saving it from the dark ages of computure tomorrow. What if the photos are loaded onto facebook? Can that serve as a medium?

Facebook could work. Are you able to get the URL of a picture once you upload it onto FB? If so, that's all you need to post here in the forum. However, it can't be the URL of the page with the photo, it has to be just the photo URL. Maybe DeRok can help further. You should email him about these comments if you have time.

Thanks for the update. When I last looked at the box score I didn't see Brewer scored that many points. In what bizarro world does Brewer shoot over 50%, 1-1 from 3pt and gets 0 rebounds.

I didn't post the photos here, but you can view them here:

they're not the greatest photos, but its proof that the season is coming!

Great photos mjohan! You have provided more game information than the official T Wolves site. How far is Billings from where you live? We could use some good coverage on that game!

Thanks for the recap Leo - very informative. Howl, er... Karma for you! (I'm going to fix that this afternoon)

Like CW said it's pre-season vs. a depleted team - but a 40 point win is a 40 point win. It's not like the basket gets smaller during the regular season. 60% is incredible! I don't think we'll keep up that torrid pace, but with the scorers we have on this team I wouldn't be surprised if the Wolves were near the top of the league in FG%.

Thanks for the recap MJohan....much appreciated.

Very encouraging first game - a 38 point win, are you kidding me?! When is the last time that happened for us, pre-season or not? Very cool.

I have to admit I haven't been this excited for the start of a Wolves season in the past 3 years....

Yeah, just get the image online somehow and then hit the "Img" button. Paste the URL for the image between the tags and you're good to go. You can also get rid of the size=150 part of the code so your image isn't shrunk.
