Harrison rumor 1 Month, 1 Week ago Howls: 11
I'm just thinking of the tumor posted on the main page....what do you all think of David Harrison? I like it, especially if its just big man insurance. BUT, I believe Harrison is good enough to start if he gets his focus together...he's shown plenty of flashes before, and it makes me wonder if the front office is trying to get ALJeff back at the 4. If they have Harrison and a healthy Booth, couldn't that happen?

BTW I am not saying I want AlJeff at the 4, though I have in the past....I'm just thinking out loud on the internet.

I saw him play a lot in Indiana. He's an interesting player...he definitely has a lot of skill, but he gets in foul trouble like crazy.

There were games were he absolutely dominated the Pistons (Rasheed and Ben Wallace) and it seemed like he was going to break through, but then he would get a stupid injury or get into foul trouble the following weeks and lose his momentum.

He just needs to control his emotions and body on the floor. He's not above getting a T for a foul he didn't think was right (even though it probably was).

Basically a high reward lose risk guy as you are probably not paying much for him. If you need big bodies he is not a bad pick up at all. He can bang down low and has the abilities to play off another big man down low to have a big game.

I would have rather we signed Patrick O'Bryant this off-season instead of this clown.

Oh well...

O'Bryant had a good game for the Celtics last night, good stat line anyway...

Better than Booth. Low risk for what could be a serviceable player. Being around a bunch of young, mature guys(outside of McCantplaydefense) may be good for him. I think Foye, Brewer, Love, Al, Richard, Miller, and Gomes are all relatively mature and could be good for him. The last thing you want to see is another Griffin. For his sake I hope he pans out to be good enough to play on this team.

...AND he's got Justin Reed All-Star potential written all over him! I can't ask for much more from a 12th man than that!

I just hope we don't hear "Al Jefferson and David Harrison have become fast friends... almost inseparable."

“I don’t understand how they have a right to look into our lives on any level besides performance-enhancing drugs. It’s not a rule made by government and it’s not a rule made by God; it’s made by an organization (the NBA). I guess they feel it will benefit that organization.” - David Harrison on getting suspended for testing positive three times for weed

I'm pretty surprised we signed this guy considering our move towards "high character" players. Eddie Griffin does spring to mind when you hear this sort of stuff.

Then again, we are extremely desperate for a big man.

There's not enough room for him, since waiving Calvin Booth will probably make a spot for Kevin Ollie.

Yeah I don't really get it either. My guess is that they just signed him as an "extra body" for the pre-season... and *might* keep him around if he truly shines out on the court. Doubtful that happens, but I guess it's all low-risk.

Speaking of which... did Pops just end up staying with that contract of his in Europe? I remember a lot of people here buzzing about him during the Summer League, even though I felt oppositely...

This guy is more likely to be the Kandi Man part 2 than anything else. I do wish him well and would rather give him a roster spot than Madsen, Booth, or Cardinal.

Re:Harrison rumor 1 Month, 1 Week ago Howls: 15
I'm all for buying Cardinal out and giving the spot to Harrison. I watched glimpses of him during his rookie and sophomore year with Indiana. despite the crowded frontcourt, where they had guys like JO, Al Harrington, then Murphy he got some PT and I remember liking his game as it was the first guy who was 260lbs and had so much HUSTLE in him. He wasn't the fastest but you could see he's really trying to fight there.

Last year I wanted the Wolves to trade Gerald Green for him, he was in trouble in Indiana.

Really, give him a shot. He's not the 2nd Kandi Man or "just size, no talent" like Araujo or John Edwards (last year summer league C). This guy has legit talent and here's hoping he now understands that whatever he thinks, he should just keep it quiet and play.

The problem with buying Cardinal out is that I bet McHale and Co. still hope that they can package him with McCants or another of our "promising youngsters" for an expiring, so they'll have the cash next offseason (I fear, as I wrote in another topic, the 2009 offseason is pure crap) or maybe they want to absorb more salary through a trade, don't know.

Buying Madsen out wouldn't be a popular move and I doubt they're even considering it since a) Mark always gives all he has b) his deal doesn't hurt us. Chris Richard should be safe aswell, he just signed his QO, has reportedly worked hard all offseason and he's a buddy of Brewer.

Carney? Also, he could prove useful. He's the athletic swingman now and he's low risk, they'll surely give him a chance this season.

Jason Collins? Easiest to buy out, I bet he'd like to go to a contender to be a backup C or backup card-player on the bench. If Harrison really shows he's a good C, if he really meshes with Big Al... would you sign off on a buyout of Collins? He was supposedly a rotation player for us.
