Wolves Record: 1-0

Unfortunately, I can't go to this game which is a major bummer... I was looking forward to it. Anyways, I know the Wolves are UNDEFEATED and all, but Dallas is still the better team. You can't argue that. It could be close though, as I really do think the Mavs are on the decline. I bet we get down huge early, but rally back and barely fall short.

PREDICTION:

Dallas 103 - Wolves 100

Kidd is the most overrated player in the league. If Al and Love can get Dirk into foul trouble, then we stand a chance of fighting in this one.

Carney and Brewer should continue their strong D, this time on Josh Howard.

I'm gonna be an optimist and call a Wolves win here. Dallas is down this year and we are up. It would be sweet if we got this W.

Wolves 105
Mavs 101

We won the first game of the season. Were you in bed?

Don't worry about numbers, your dad doesn't know what they mean either.

Klove will meet a more accomplished front court this time around.

And I'm not so sure our record against the Mavs is all that good

Mavs 104 - Wolves 100

I'm going to predict a Wolves win.

Wolves 105
Mavs 100

Why not? There is no money involved. I do not feel compelled to convince anyone here that I am intelligent. I am happier thinking we are going to win. When we lose I will simply curse quietly under my breath and then go to bed.

I'm also picking a win until this team gives me a good reason not to.

Wolves 102 Dallas 98

I know he's going to have his ups and downs during his rookie season, but talent-wise, is Love already the team's 2nd best player?

Re:Game Thread: Wolves vs Dallas Mavericks (11/1/0 1 Year, 10 Months ago Howls: 13
Ouch. This was just a brutal game tonight offensively.

Bad things:
- Foye and Brewer absolutely could not make a lay-up. Just ugly.
- 1 for 12 on threes. Hopefully Miller finds his stride soon.
- The starters - Not one starter shot 50% or better tonight. The closest was Miller at 4 for 11.
- Al just did not look like his dominant self. The most telling play of the game to me came with a few minutes left in the 4th - Foye got blocked by Bass and Kidd tried to throw it off Al while falling out of bounds. Al took the ball, was right next to the rim, and instead of trying to dunk it, threw up a weak lay-up/floater that got rejected by Bass (him again). Throw it down, man.

Good things:
- The bench - McCants' scoring was actually just what the team needed early on. Both he and Love looked great in the first half and helped bring the Wolves back into the game (Love was non-existent in the 2nd half, though). Ollie was solid and had a sweet block of a Jason Terry lay-up attempt. And not only did the Rhino hit the glass like usual, he also played decent defense against Brandon Bass.
- FT's - the Wolves made more than the Mavs attempted.
- A slight rebounding edge.

One other note of interest: Gerald Green played, and his stats were actually pretty good. He didn't look quite as lost on defense as he did last year, either, but I still didn't see much from him that would convince me he's ready to be a star (or even a consistent contributor).

The Wolves had a chance in this one, but there's clearly some improving to be done yet this year.

Special Kudos go out to Rob Brewer for his instant podcast analysis and to Stop-n-Pop for his in depth story both of who were published shortly after the game. The combination of the 2 provide the best Wolves coverage on the web.
