Bringing FLip back is like remarrying an ex-wife. Just would put a bad taste in people's mouths. How woudl they explain why they fired him in the first place??

Did anyone catch that subtle blurb in Shooters column about Flip coming back? Though Shooter is usually pretty off the wall, he has been right at times when he speaks in a directive tone like that.

That, and Hoiberg was really beating around the bush about my Wittman questions on the phone the other day. You gotta think something is imminent. If Flip come back though, the media and fans will have a fieled day with their inability to escape the country club. The PR will be TERRIBLE if we bring him back.

With that said, Wolves lose by 3 98-95 and blow another lead.

OK, here's what's gonna happen.

Witt gets fired within the next two weeks.

Flip comes back as coach and GM -- position he held at one time.

Flip coaches for the rest of this season, the team does well for the remainder of the season -- at least compared to Witt's record.

At the end of the season, McHale steps down in a cloud of glory.

Flip takes McHales job, and hires a new coach.

The Iowan becomes GM.

Casey is the new coach.

Country club remains intact.

The blog continues, with plenty to complain about.

Wow so many of you are oblivious to the depth of coaching necessary to run an NBA team. Casey had the respect of nobody on the Wolves team, from players to coaches. He's probably a GREAT assistant and does things well when he's not in charge. I've never seen a coach on any level be ridiculed that openly by his players, refs, and fellow coaches during a game. Your suggestion doesn't work.

Couple of things to add on this thread...

1. I'm predicting another close loss. Unfortunately with Boston, Detroit, and Phoenix heading into town, we could be on a 12 game losing streak if we don't pull this out. And even then we have to pray that we can beat OKC on the road to snap it. This is getting ugly.

2. Wally World - When were you on the phone with Hoiberg talking about Wittman? Did I miss something?

3. I find it very interesting that Shooter brought up the Flip scenario, the day I mentioned it as a joke in the "Choose Your Own Adventure" thread.

4. Flip is by far the best coaching prospect out there at the moment. We have the home town advantage in that you'd think he'd like to remain in the area vs. having to move again.

That being said, I've heard from insiders that it will be a cold day in hell when Taylor and McHale actually eat crow and admit they were wrong for firing him. Then again, with the franchise on the brink of imploding, maybe they'll suck it up and do the right thing.

I don't think it would be an issue for Flip as being re-hired would certainly give him some vindication. I think it's more of a pride issue on McHale and Taylor's part that would keep this from happening.

2 Things:

1. Flip ain't coming back. Why would he want to? I could see him being cool with McHale again, but after all of the times Taylor has thrown him under the bus since the firing, I bet Flip is like "Screw him". Flip doesn't need this job. He wouldn't take it even if it was offered.

2. Dwane Casey is not a good head coach in the NBA. He exercised no authority, leadership, or will. He had no respect, and a lot of it was his own fault. I echo The Daddy's sentiments on him whole-heartedly. I don't know why after the fact all these people are making it sounds like Casey shouldn't have been fired and he was a good coach. B.S.

My top 2 candidates: Avery Johnson & Jeff Van Gundy. Would either of them even take this position? Not neccesarily.

I would LOVE either of those coaches. Also I completely agree with you and Daddy about Flip and Casey. Please, stop the Casey love. He was not a good head coach.

1. You didnt miss much. Honestly was too lazy to type a recap. I called Hoiberg early last week to discuss how things were going and he returned my call last Thursday. I picked his brain for a bit and I would love to say he had a lot to say, but he danced around my questions like the PR pro he is. I asked him some leading questions about Witt but he avoided the subject. To me, he said something by NOT saying anything. Does that make sense?

2. As for the Flip: He would be a great coach for our situation, but restarting a bad marriage is recipe for disaster. It would eliminate any credibility these clowns left. I just would LOVE to read about the controversy with that hire. I think Barriero would honestly go into cardiac arrest. The country club connotations would be laughable. Besides, Taylor WONT add another coach to the payroll. The talk of JVG and company coming midseason is silly. Jerry Sichting, Fred Hoiberg or the Ostrich himself, (hell Andre Deloya could do a better job, nice guy, said hi to him while drunk in the preseason), will coach IF Twittman gets canned. SOmeone on the current payroll for sure.

3. The game: Foye has earned his starting spot back in my eyes, but will play an average game. Same starting frontcourt. It will be fun to see Big Al vs. Elton. Id love to predict a huge game for Mike, but going against Iguodala will be very difficult for him. Either way Im thinkin 18-22 points for Mike in 12-15 shots.

Unfortunately, as I said, Wolves lose 98-95. I dont think Witt can get this team to win.

IF WITTMAN PLAYS MCCANTS THE WHOLE *(#&$(*&#(*$&*( FOURTH QUARTER IM TURNING OFF THE TV.

I told myself I wasn't going to do this but...... wolves win by 5 points. The season just started today right? This is obviously based on NOTHING that I have seen so far.

More point by point thoughts...

1. Wally World - how on earth do you have Fred Hoiberg's phone number?

2. I agree the Flip thing isn't happening. However, I do think it won't happen more because of McHale/Taylor than Flip. Basically, if they re-hire Flip it just validates that everything they said about him was complete crap. He's got a lot to gain and will be viewed as a returning hero, vs. the guy who got canned when we went from title contenders to basement dwellers overnight.

I don't think McHale and Taylor will eat the crow. McHale coaching or Hoiberg or Sitching is far more likely. However, there's no way Avery Johnson or JVG are coming into this disaster right now. They have too much to lose because they could hurt their reps if the team continues to suck, which is highly likely. Flip is the best coach we have a realistic shot at. Maybe that fact would cause McTaylor to buckle, but I doubt it.

And P.S. - Casey was a hoooooooorrible coach. The year he was fired, the team was 20-20 in spite of him, not because of him. People have this rosy view of him only because he was replaced by Wittman who just may be the worst coach in NBA history. Casey deserved to get canned long before he did, the front office was just nuts for not replacing him with a viable candidate.

In other news, there has been a sudden drop in timberwolf(the animal) populations across the US. Top scientists in the fields of zoology and biology believe the drop to be caused by suicides due to being associated with the Minnesota Timberwolves(the NBA team) and the constant ridicule received from other forest animals.
Chuck Norris once challenged Lance Armstrong in a \"Who has more testicles?\" contest.

Chuck Norris won by 5.

We're not the only team with one win who are causing problems. Have you heard about all the clipper ships voluntarily smashing themselves up against the rocks due to angst about being associated with the NBA team?

I also heard they found Harry Potter with his wrists slit over Washington's bad start.

And what about all the thunder who... um...

...Man, that name sucks!

Roundhouse, that was hilarious! However, Timberwolf populations around the country can put down the bottle for one night at least. The boys won a game!
