I'd like to get excited but I cannot. Melo is not coming here. I can see him telling his hot wife that honey, we're not going to New York or Houston, we're going to Minneapolis for 3-4 years instead. It's a really great place, you'll love it. He won't screw up his marriage to come to the T-wolves-the worst team in the West and maybe the NBA. What would make him sign an extension to come here?? Anyone...anyone?
"So, which one of you guys is going to come in second?" - Larry Bird before the 3 point contest. He won.

Maybe Denver won't give him the max extension unless he agrees to be traded to a team that they want? I dunno.
Question: "Why do you shoot so many Threes?"

But really, it would be quite stupid for us to trade anything at all for Melo without a contract extension... because you know he'd leave here after one year as a free agent. That would really suck.

One good year would be of value but I'm guessing that value, but less than if he'd extend and go to NJ. If Denver would trade him for Wes Johnson and a pick (not ours) it would give me pause.

As everyone has said, the idea of him signing an extension here is laughable.

I would give it a 2.35% chance he comes. But like other posts of mine I am a dreamer.

Rubio/Flynn
Melo/Brewer/Ellington
Beasley/Webster/Lazer
Love/Tolliver
Darko/Pekovic

Melo, Beasley kinda playing out of position, but it doesn't mean they will play those all game, just make them happy and give them starts

Well thats my little dream right there, hope you enjoy haha

Then I'd rather not have him at all. That's a public trade demand waiting to happen.

Well yeah, I don't think any of us want to trade for him if he doesn't truly want to be here.

Who knows, maybe he'll like what we are building and the other young players we have (Rubio, Love, Beasley, Wes, etc)? Plus he would be the unquestioned alpha STUD on our team. Definitely highly doubtful, but it could happen...

to me it would have to be rambis' job to get him here.. if he can convince him that with the TRI-Off his game can be even more elavated and possibly be come a kobe/jordan player...i dont think he can be on their level but he is good but if he's more like kobe(mind set) where he wants to challenge him self to be the best then just..MAYBE...

but... knowing our luck ..it wont happen

Denver has very little leverage. They are doing their best offering the MAX extension at the very first day they could. They are doing their part now it's up to Melo to decide. Every team will give Melo the max they can with Denver able to accommodate with a sign and trade, which is in their favor. Getting Melo to say yes to 3 years at a team of Denver's choosing cuz they can get the best deal vs. Melo going where he wants for a few million less, I say Melo takes the freedom and gambles on the CBA still favoring the superstars over the rooks and midlings. It's a superstar league. I say Denver cannot do what Toronto did and wait it out. If he won't sign by the trading deadline look for a deal and they'll do the sign and trade with NY/NJ/A Cali team/Houston or Chicago with a sleeper Dallas or Boston. Miami can't make it happen with the cap. That's what my crystal ball says... Ok now for something really important...Lottery numbers! 44

Nice. That all definitely does make a lot of sense. Denver is screwed no matter what, as Melo can basically do whatever he wants. My guess is he somehow ends up on NY. I think that's clearly where he and LaLa want to go. He'd be "The Man" and playing with Amare. Plus Denver gets him out of the West.

If Carmelo actually goes East (i.e. gutting the Nuggets) the two leagues might finally be balanced.

Really? I think the East is already better at the top. If Carmelo goes to a team like the Knicks, that will only add to the imbalance.

I think at the top of the Conferences you maybe right. The East big 4 are Miami, Boston, Orlando and Chicago. The next 4 maybe a little weak with Atlanta, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Indiana maybe Knicks--6,7,8 are purely speculative and weak and cannot win a playoff series.

West is Lakers, Mavericks, Oklahoma City, Utah, San Antonio, Portland, Denver maybe depends on Melo, Phoenix maybe, Houston depends on Yao, New Orleans, Memphis, Clippers. 6,7,8 and even 9 and 10 still look better in the West than in the East. But it is closer.

Hey and let's not forget the new look Timberwolves with a surprise surge to number, never mind, we've got a long way to go. 44

Keep in mind, if Melo left... a top team in the West (Nuggets) is reduced to almost nothing, and a mid tier team in the East (Knicks, for example) is up near the top 4 with Atlanta.

I agree. And when Chris Paul, Tony Parker, and Deron Williams come East as well the balance of power will have shifted. I call this the Kobe/Gasol/Phil Jackson/Lakers effect. Nobody thinks they can get to the Finals past Kobe and crew so they try going East and take their chances like Garnett did. Should be interesting to watch. Good for our T-wolves. 44

Yes the West still has depth in the short term but the Spurs, Mavs and Suns are all coming to a day where they need to retool and that is really only the case for Boston at the top of the East.
