Sigh.

Question: "Why do you shoot so many Threes?"

Antoine Walker: "Because there are no Fours."

Before all the whining starts..... 5 turnovers to 1 means you lose. I dont want to hear anything about the NFL's O.T. setup, or the pass interference. They lost it themselves. Brett bringith, Brett taketh. There is always next year.......If Favre is still here.

A.P. is not good enough to fumble 5 times and still have a job.

Lastly with T- Jack in there all year we are 7-9.
Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

We dominated them in every facet, but lost because of turnovers. Sigh.

If only Brett would have run that last pass.............

I guess on the bright side I won $420 on a 4-way parlay. Vikes and Colts to cover, and both games Over.

Were you entertained by the Vikings this year? If so, then Favre did his job. The team was immensely entertaining. We did commit too many turnovers to overcome. If we had scored just before the end of the half, I think the game would have been ours. On a good note, the NFC team that is going to the Super Bowl comes from a tradition even more bereft than our own. Certainly the Saints are deserving. It is extremely disappointing to get this far and lose, and to lose when you are so close to winning, but only one team will finish the year with a win. I am old enough to have watched all of the Vikings Super Bowl trips and, trust me, they were much more disappointing losses than this one.

Well said. Way to keep things in perspective.

That was maybe the 4th time he didn't run it in a crucial situation where the short gain would have been a huge benefit this season. I may or may not have woken up my son screaming RUUUNNNNNN.

When they had 1st down at the 32 I really thought they were going to do it. My arms were going numb with the anticipation. The defense was fairly disappointing for a lot of this year, but boy were they everything we needed them to be in these last two games. How huge was Cedric Griffin getting hurt on the Kick coverage? Sigh.

Yeah, I think CW Jr heard us screaming as well.

As for Ced Griffin, my brother made that exact comment. Sucks.

The window for Superbowls opens and closes in a blink. This year we had our window wide open, we dominated the next best team and still didn't make it. It'll be long time before we have a opportunity this good again. The fact that the generation before me has yet to see a victory in the big game puts that fact in perspective.

I am trying to get over it. I don;t remember when was the last time I was so frustrated by a sports game... when Favre threw that INT with 16 seconds left. Take 3 f***ing steps and slide, then let Ryan kick us right into the Super Bowl. Nooooooo. ;(

On the bright side, the game was epic. Both teams demonstrated a lot of power, both teams were relentless in trading punches... they had the penalties, we had the turnovers. In OT we stacked penatlies and turnovers (the Saints got 30 yards on the interference calls, blah) and that is the ebst recipe for loss.

I really thought Hartwell was going to miss it, he SUCKS.

Wow. What a disappointing loss. But did any of us really expect anything different?

My friends and I all talked about how the Vikings would blow it this year. We said it'd be a Favre pick or a Peterson fumble. Turns out it was both and much more.

Although Favre's last pass was horrible, I can't agree with anyone who makes him the biggest goat for this loss. The old man was getting pounded the whole game and kept getting back up. He battled his heart out and was one of the main reasons we even had an opportunity at pulling out the win in the end. He definitely earned my respect with how he played against the Saints and throughout the year. AD on the other hand...not so much.

I can't wait to experience how those guys in the Purple and Gold manage to mangle our hearts and crush our souls next year!
YWG is a movement that will inspire young men and women to dream bigger and reach higher. Rashad McCants, we will never forget you.

Re:Vikings 2 years ago #41271

Good points by everyone, especially from Pants about how a Superbowl window can close shut in an instant. Like 1998, this was "our year." Ughghghg. I think we could have beaten the Colts too. Sigh.

Anyways, Brett is to be commended for his play, and he got beat to hell. A lot of other QB's would have been knocked out of the game. Still... at the end it was WIDE OPEN for him to run. 5 yards would have been easy. I just can't get over that. It hurts now even infinitely more than last night. Its gonna take a while for this pain to go away.

And yes, unfortunately, a small part of me expected something like this to happen. It's our fate as Vikings fans.
