My Thoughts:

I do not think he is worth the MAX though. No.

$55 mil. is what we offered him? For how many years? For 4 years, that would be good, 5 may be a bit low, and 6 would be too low I would think.

$75 mil. for 6 years - yeah, that probably sounds about right. Although nothing he has done so far warrants that type of money, but if he has a hot season this year, that could be viewed as a bargin.

To offer him the MAX thought just seems RIDICULOUS to me. He's never even been an All-Star. He has had one good (not even great) year. I don't think he's worth max $ at all.

But if we wait until after this season...that would be DUMB. Probably. Man, we need to sign him in the NEXT 10 DAYS, or we are putting ourselves in another bad situation.

It's one of those things that seems to defy logic. Can we really trade KG for Big Al, etc and then NOT sign him? I keep telling myself we can't possibly be so inept that the FO screws this up, but then find myself wondering HOW we're going to screw this up...because all signs point to this whole situation being seriously F***** by our organization.
