Trade ideas then:

Wes for Courtney Lee
Pekovic for Jody Meeks
Williams for Mayo (extend & trade)
Beasley for Iguodala

Kahn would almost certainly do the second trade. Wes for Lee is probably a good trade but Kahn will continue telling us to be patient as Wes Johnson continues his basketball descent into late career Nick Anderson.

No chance we'd make a big splash for a guy like Mayo or Iguodala.

No way we could get Iggy for Beasley. And the money doesn't work anyways. I'd trade any combo of the above for Iggy though. Mayo would be just as fine with me as well (prefer Iggy though.)

As a last resort, I'd take Courtney Lee, but I have to believe there are better guys out there we could get? Then again, no one likes Kahn and we don't exactly have much to trade besides D-Charge so who knows. :(
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Well, the framework of the deal would be built around those players. Probably Beasley + Wes + Pekovic or something like that.

In related news, how glad am I that we didn't pick punkass Cousins?

Yeah, probably a good thing we don't have him on our young, impressionable team.

However, if you recall, most of us here wanted the Wolves to draft him so that we could trade him during/shortly after the draft.

That is revisionist history. As late as this summer you all were whining about how we should have Cousins on our team instead of Wes.

Say what you will about wimpy Wes, but at least he isn't pissing Love and Rubio off.

P.S. This is depressing food for thought:

Marc Gasol makes on average $14.75 million a year through his current contract.

Brad Miller, Martell Webster, and Nikola Pekovic make $14.25 million per year together, and we just beat the defending NBA champs without any of them seeing the court.

Not really, because we expressly said we wanted to draft and trade him at the time. We didn't want Wes.

Yeah, after seeing how much Wes sucks, we said we'd rather have Cousins. Ok, because he's clearly infinitely more talented than Wes. And that was before this trade demand stuff came up too.

Also, his agent says Cousins did NOT make a trade demand, so we don't really know for sure what's going on here.

Egads.

We could really have a very nice team if we didn't have all these small contracts and had one guy like Iggy/Kevin Martin/Gasol/etc instead.

Sigh. :( :( :(

Still glad we drafted Wes over Cousins.....

The Sacramento Kings say DeMarcus Cousins has demanded a trade and has been told to stay away from the team. ESPN.com

Kings coach Paul Westphal released a statement before Sunday's game against New Orleans, saying when Cousins "continually, aggressively, lets it be known that he is unwilling/unable to embrace traveling in the same direction as his team, it cannot be ignored indefinitely." ESPN.com

Well it certainly looks pretty bad for him right now, no doubt about that. :S

Three way him to Houston, Martin to MN.

Yeah I have little interest in Cousins. This team does not need an attitude like that and I have no interest in the coaching staff playing psychiatrist. And as is the crux of this thread, I don't have any interest in trading for another prospect in general. Even for nothing.

This is different than what I have felt in the past. The Wes vs Cousins question is more 'pick your poison' now. The real solution was to do a trade back and take Paul George, who everyone around here loved at the time. Alas.

Overall I wouldn't mind Wes if he took on more of a swiss army-defensive Thabo Shelfolsha/Corey Brewer role. We don't really NEED the guy for scoring and he has the tools to be an energy 2 guard backup. That is probably his NBA future in a nut shell if anything.

But still - as much as I love D Will and the prospects...can you imagine this team with that competent shooting guard INSTEAD of sir backup D Will? Anthony Tolliver is a man child and is a more than capable permanent backup power forward, as are Pek and Brad Miller at Center. Can you imagine a player of D Wills VALUE at the 2 guard spot? Egads. What fun.

Cousins is that "Potential" crap right now. One day he'll figure it out. He'll be a good player one day, probably. But there is no time to be fycking around with that sh*t. The Wolves got corners to turn.
