This is a bold strategy. Either you are hoping Love will take the offer or you just pissed him off with these numbers. I kind of like it though because if he wants to be competitive the millions he turned down could be used on better talent. If he declines it just give him the max and move on.

also an extra tidbit at the bottom talks about how Bill Beise could be making his return to the Target Center. Can't believe he didn't re-up for Ricky Rubio

No chance K-Lav takes anything less than the max, which is like $82 million over 5 years. This will probably just piss him off.

I can see why we'd do that though... no team could offer more as a Restricted Free Agent, and we'd just match it next summer. BUT, Love could take the $6.8 million Qualifying offer next year and become an UNrestricted Free Agent two years from now. That would be a devastating loss.

Plus if we give Love 5 years as our "designated guy", then we couldn't give Rubio the same deal when his contract eventually comes up.

Still... we shouldn't piss him off and risk losing him for nothing. The 5 year deal is only $1 million more per season. The biggest reason to not give him 5 years would be because we couldn't do the same for Rubio, but that's so far down the line who knows what could happen before then and we shouldn't risk it.

why is everyone so quick to think klove wont take this? its 4 years, which will allow him to cash in BIG during his prime after this contract is up.

i think its a fair offer and one he will ultimately take.

The reason he might take it is that it helps make it easier to add and keep better players. However, the reason I would be upset is because, why the hell are you paying Martell $5 million a year to be injured if that's the case? Take Darko, Martell, and Pekovic and you almost have a max player! With Brad Miller and Anthony Randolph still on the bench!!!

I would be insulted if I were K-Lav. They only offer him the same amount of money and years that he can get from other teams.

When contracts get huge like this for some players, a lot of times their ego/status comes into play (as well as the money.) Can't say I really blame him either. I am pretty sure most other teams in the league would give him the full max.

I'm really upset by all of this...4 years 60 mil is kind of a slap in the face to K Love...My main hope is because Love has been involved in roster moves, coaching decisions etc. he knows what's going on here and wants to help the team in the future and willing to take the 4 years
