Good luck making a trade for a legit SG. I read an article somewhere recently that was discussing how the golden age of the SG ended a few years back (and named at least a dozen awesome 2s from that time), and that we are now in a drought at that position. To me, that says it is a seller's market for teams with depth at that position. So if you want an OJ Mayo--a non-starter but considered talented nonetheless--you better get have something good to give up.

I'm frustrated about the lack of moves too, but consider the fact that no teams are doing anything at this point! And if I had my choice, I'd rather Kahn stand pat and do nothing and go after a FA SG in the spring, than overpay for someone now who is not an ideal fit and be stuck with a bad contract.

Just think if Wes Johnson would have turned into the player he was supposed to be... the Wolves would be a Thunder-in-the-making right now!

If "if's" were a fifth we'd all be drunk.

That is soooo much worse than Kahn not making a move that could cost us from making the playoffs. We need to create a culture of winning here. We're so close, yet so far away.

:(
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

CW, I respect your opinion and all, but if the only way the Wolves can make a move is to overpay and potentially take on a bad contract... is that really better than not making a move? Now if we are talking about the potential to land a "perfect fit" SG, then by all means I'm for it. But I am in no way in favor of overpaying for a "sort-of-OK-fit" SG. That would be a McHale move... and he'd throw in a future 1st rounder just for the hell of it, too.

I think the culture of winning has arrived, and the last thing they need is to make a desperation move to secure an 8th seed in the playoffs. I'm no Kahn apologist, but a little patience doesn't hurt sometimes.

Ummmmmm? After the last six+ BRUTAL years of ineptitude and utter failure, no the culture has not yet been changed around here. All we did was win a few more games so far this year than we have in the past years. The season is far from over. Yes, it helps that we have a good coach, Rubio, and Love... but there is so much more that needs to be done yet.

I agree, there is still work to be done. But...

Yes, the Wolves are about a .500 club right now, but before tipoff of every game I feel like they have a chance to win, and if it is against a non-elite team I flat-out expect them to win. I suspect it is the same among the players and coaches. When they lose games, you can tell that they are genuinely ticked off about it... compared to the "who gives a shit" body language that was on display the last several years. All of this is evidence of a winning culture. It has arrived.

A championship culture is something entirely different, but at least they are headed in the right direction.

So you expect us to win every game against non-elite teams yet we have a 13-16 record. I think your idea of what a winning team and winning culture is is a bit different from other peoples' definitions.

I definitely do not think a winning culture has arrived. They've taken a step in the right direction. The team basically has a free pass this season because of Rubio and Adelman but if this team stagnates next season (aka Kahn makes no moves which he probably won't because he's a worthless piece of shit) there will be a lot of fingerpointing and frustration going on among fans and within the organization.

I know my logic sounds convoluted, but it’s just the feeling I have as an observer. I guess what I meant to say is that I expect the Wolves to have a chance to win every game against non-elite teams, which is a far cry from the Rambis era, when I would have maybe expected that against the bottom dwellers. I sure as hell don’t expect them to actually win all of those games, otherwise they would end up as the #1 seed in the West.

I stand by my statement that a winning “culture” has been established. That does not mean the Wolves are a winning team, but it is a precursor to that. They are playing with the confidence that they can compete and win, they are showing the right signs when they come up short, and they are improving as the season progresses.

The winning culture is there, they just need to make a move or two to push them over the top on the scoreboard. Which brings me back to my original point of not making a desperation move at the expense of overpaying or getting handcuffed to a shitty contract. There is still work to be done getting the roster balanced, but they need to be smart about it. If Kahn does nothing, however, then he will definitely have earned the title of "worthless piece of shit".
