(Pretends Al Jefferson doesn't exist)
I think the assumption is that Al was a PF. I think in the current NBA it's safe to call Al a C. Anyway Jeezy continues to remind me of the post version of Arenas and Monta that I am discussing in the Trade Proposals thread. It's not that he isn't good; it's not that he's selfish; it's that he doesn't share the ball, and holds it way too much. If he just learned the art of kicking the ball out quickly and reposting, and if he realized that every single pass doesn't need to be a scoring pass, and that when you hold the ball for 8 seconds it kills your teammates' movement, then he'd be good. His defense while inattentive was not my least favorite part of his game.
Regardless, every other center we've had has been completely useless. He's #1.
No doubt. But I am just pointing out that statistics aside, Al wasn't necessarily a great C given that his bad offensive habits and poor teamwork contributed to a culture of losing. Obviously the best we've had until Pek.
That being said, Pek admittedly benefits from playing with Love (who draws major attention on the boards at all times) and Rubio (worth 2-4 easy buckets a game most nights).
Pek's job is to finish inside when he gets the ball in great position, and make a few nice post moves each night. That's a much easier task than what was expected of Al.
