Love is a hands down All-NBA 1st team this year and he is a borderline MVP candidate.

Unfortunately, you might as well close the door on this MVP talk as well. The media pumps this up with the best players on the best teams. Unless the Wolves tear it up and move into the middle of the playoff race, they won't EVER consider him a legit candidate.

Correct. We can expect a 2nd/3rd place vote or 2, but not a chance in hell. LeBron or Durant get it this year. Both are playing out of their minds. Even if the Wolves moved up to the 5-7 seed.

Next year with a couple pieces added and a 3-5 seed? Perhaps a discussion then.

However, 1st Team ALL NBA is definitely not out of reach.

Wrong again. The All NBA teams can get away with simply having "two forwards". So it will be something like Howard, Durant, Lebron, Kobe/Wade, and Rose/CP3.

They'd have to leave off Durant or Lebron to get Love in. Not happening. I guess he has a better chance of bumping Durant than Lebron.

This thread is great. I am with WallyWorld on his people not liking K. Love is annoying post. The guy puts up 42 & 39 against LMA and Blake in back to back games, both teams who are ahead of us in the playoff standings, and we WIN both games. It is pretty amazing. I would think that with all of the losing this team has done the past 5 years that fans would be obsessed with K. Love by now. Of course, I'm more of a Rubio guy myself, so I guess I'd better shut up.

Maybe it's like some people here are so used to following a losing team and are just used to bitching and complaining and looking at things pessimistically and like to provide answers and solutions. I am not one of them. I like to be happy and optimistic if possible, although realistic and level-headed at the same time. I hated my attitude toward the team the past 5 years, but that was a product of management lying to fans, management selling fans on guys like Foye being future stars, KG getting thrown under the bus, Glen Taylor, Kurt Rambis' complete fail at coaching, Big Al refusing to play D, Gomes Gomes'ing it, Jonny Flynn existing, bad drafts, minimal free agent signings, bad losses, horrible records, apathetic home crowds, subpar cheerleaders, McCants standing in the corner, etc, etc. Now that the tide has turned, I will not be complaining about Wes' passivity or JJ's out of controlness too much because we are WINNING and THINGS ARE WAYYYYYY BETTER than they have been in 5+ years.

Whoever said a few pages ago that Rubio doesn't have the ceiling Love has is speaking gibberish though. No one thought Love's ceiling was this high, not even last year, not even a few weeks ago. You get the point. This is a fluid world, things are always changing. Wolfenstein is getting wayyyy ahead of himself talking about Love's Hall of Fame numbers. But I do think I see his point - that K. Love is doing historically great things right now and we should be sitting back and enjoying the ride. I am.

Wow that was awesome. Howl.

I guess we have a right to be a little bitter, yet. I understand the lingering pessimism I guess. Just not the attraction to rebuilding. Stockholm Syndrome defined.

It just gets tiring. So Love can't guard guys well. Oh, shoot. Well, the dude rebounds the ball like Charles Barkley, has gotten countless absurd offensive rebounds in crucial moments (one against LAC late in the 4th Monday stands out. It was truly incredible.), can actually dunk now...even in traffic, can pass the ball well, is improving his post game weekly, shoots threes at a higher % than Jason Terry, Deron Williams, Marcus Thornton, Kevin Martin AND James Harden, is a good team guy, can actually handle the ball these days and create his own shot opportunities

Ahh... but he complains too much and isn't the best defender. Definitely no other star in the league has EVER subscribed to these two characteristics whose balls have been washed on these forums over the years. Never. Better trade him for 2 $0.50 pieces and move on while we can.

Look man, I am not saying he WILL win any of those awards, just that he really should be in the discussion. I could honestly care less about awards, I care about wins and playoffs. People that stroke off to MVP awards need to get a hobby. You are correct that Love will most likely get shunned on the big awards. Cest la vie.

Love is playing far better than Griffin, Stoudemire, KG, Nowitzki, Duncan, and Aldridge this year. Name any other PF in the league. Love is playing much better than him too.

I may have been misunderstood talking about HOF numbers- I'm not saying his current numbers justify HOF with no further accomplishment. The point is that if Love keeps doing what he's doing this year and last for 10 more years without drop off or injury (a big IF) then he will have put up HOF numbers. He will have had every bit the career that Barkley had. I mean, that's some sh*t right there.

I love that you left of Bosh and Gasol. ahah, I hate em.

But seriously, Stoudemire, unfortunately, is not in the conversation. He's good, but just not up there. Duncan and KG have settled into being above average players but don't make that impact anymore.

Good post Bonk. Drop knowledge.

Love deserves 2nd team for sure. But there's just no way whatsoever he makes the first team over LeBron or Durant. Nor should he.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

This is totally Hollinger-esque of you CW. You can't discount the possibility that Love will not make the first team until you know how the rest of the season plays out. Example: Love continues averaging 35/15 for the rest of the season and the Wolves earn a 5th or 6th seed. Unlikely, but within the realm of possibility. Next example: LeBron gets a booboo and has to sit out the rest of the season, and the Heat continue playing well without him showing that Wade is the real reason for that team's success.

I mean, what you are saying is very likely, but it's like Hollinger assigning 0% chance of making the playoffs to teams 10 games into the season. You know not what the future brings.

Ok so if something super duper improbably happens like LeBron or Durant missing the rest of the year, AND the cHeat or Thunder lose a TON of games, AND K-Love keeps putting up HOF numbers like never before........... then yes, Kevin Love *might* make 1st team All-NBA.

Good grief.

Well I know I'm being a pain in the ass and all, but the reality is that since the All Star Break, Love has been one of the 6 best players in the league despite being sick for 2 of those games, the team has been winning big games, and if you go with pure stats (I don't) he is probably closer to #5 than Howard is right now, maybe than Rose too.

While Kobe (31.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 4.8 apg since break) and LeBron (29.8 ppg, 10.8 rpg, 6.3 apg since break) are owning fools, I'm just saying it's not that accurate to paint it like Love (28.5 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 2.8 apg since break) is somehow on an obviously lower tier than say Durant (29.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.3 apg since break), Rose (25.6 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 7.8 apg since break), or Howard (25.2 ppg, 13.0 rpg, 2.2 bpg, 1.8 spg since break).

I'm not a huge fan of stats-only analysis, but even if you say Howard's defensive impact puts him up there with Kobe and LeBron, it's not totally out there to say that Love, Durant, and Rose are pretty comparable in terms of production recently. And Love had 2 really bad games in there too.

All I'm saying man.

You can't just draw even with guys like that to take their spot. Love will have to out play them in the playoffs.

No lie. I'm saying Love is on or approaching that level at his position, but acknowledging that the odds of that being recognized, especially vs. a more marketable guy like LeBron or Durant is unlikely. But I think it is the point in the season where it's appropriate (and not even over-homerish) to start discussing whether he is deserving, even though smart money would never bet on him getting the award. There's an argument to be made in his favor as 1st team All NBA and one of a handful in the MVP discussion, is all I'm saying.

Dig?

Honestly? As long as LeBron and Durant are playing, Love misses out on first team.

However, a perennial 2nd or 3rd teamer isn't anything to sneeze at.
