Is there a FA compensation program now in the NBA?

Yea, that probably was me. I think I was the main Pek < Gortat. I still want Gortat for D-Charge because then Pek - 30, Gortat 30, Love 36 minutes a night. Gortat is a decent shot blocker and is a big upgrade on defense over Love and Pek.

Glad the Wolves won. I can't bring myself to watch them much right now. I'm in severe mourning.

Mourning about what? Beasley's sprained toe? He'll be back soon. We should be excited, Rubio FINALLY committed to coming over from Spain for the 2012-2013 season! Signed, sealed and delivered. This team is going to be sooo much better next year.

Oh for sure WW. I was mourning Shane's death in The Walking Dead. I actually had a dream that Rubio came over this year and averaged 10 points, 8+ assists, and 2+ steals. I guess he's not playing in Spain this year because he's rigorously training to be ready for the NBA next year in order to beat out Anthony Davis for ROY.

Sample size?

But don't get me wrong, I definitely do love Pek.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Wilson Chandler - There was an issue with being released from his Chinese team. Supposedly he'll sign with a team this week.
No, he can only sign with the Nuggets now for the remainder of the season. He had to sign an offer sheet with a different team before March 1st, which he didn't.

If he doesn't play for the Nuggets this year, then he's a Restricted FA after this season and the Nuggets would be able to match any new offer to him.

No? Where did you see or hear about that?

They should give a compensation pick at the end of the 1st round of the draft when a team loses a good player.

I'd be down with that. But how do you determine who gets picks? Does the guy have to had made an All-Star game before? Or something like that?

Easy. You just go by how much money they get from the team that signed them. If they got X amount of dollars per year or whatever, then you get a pick for compensation.

Are you guys referring to an exception or pick for replacing an injured player? Giving a draft pick doesnt make any sense since the injuries generally only effect the current season. For that reason, the league allows a $5 million or so injury exception you can use immediately.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding.

Nevermind, I see what you mean now. Cool idea. Definitely not in the new CBA though.

Yeah... free draft picks for losing players. It's huge in MLB. In the NFL a team has to give up a certain round pick (sometimes) for signing certain free agents. Like if anyone wants Mike Wallace from the Steelers, they have to pay his new contract and give Pittsburgh their first round pick.

I think that would be a solid addition to the NBA. Make the picks after round 1, and NOT have to be guaranteed salaries.

Yea they would have to work the same way as 2nd round picks because of limited roster spots in the NBA.
