Oh! Stories! Went to a Wolves full-team meet and greet last night for STH's. It was pretty cool. Some notes:

-Ran into Bonk running by the river as I was walking to it.
-Everyone was there but Rubio. Basically shoveled through lines and went one player to the next.
-They were selling a Big Al signed jersey as one of the silent auction prizes. Clearly a prize collecting dust they have been unable to sell over the years.
-Martell was the most friendly I would say, along with Wayne.
-Pek, after signing, just looked up at everyone and gave a total, horrifying death stare.
-Darko made no eye contact and mumbled things as people walked by
-Beasley was happy to be there and a hoot. He was eating skittles and drinking Strawberry Nesquik. He is awesome and just a happy guy.

-Love was acting like a total douche-rocket. Openly complaining about being there while I was right in front of him. Flashed his phone over to Luke Ridnour and said "It's 7:00...ugh" (when the event was supposed to end)
-They were all 15 minutes late
-Brad Miller was getting into an argument with a Wolves PR staff member about being there too long while he was signing my poster. I got a kick out of hearing the lady explain to him that he was late and had to stay.
-We went out back to look at their rides. Some sweet cars but nothing too amazing. A guy who knew Beasley pointed out his enormous Escalade to us, with giant wheels and a smoke black paint job. You could easily pick his car out of a huge parking lot if you ever saw it.

That about does it.

I guess I don't blame them for being snobby, but maybe not right in front of fans. They probably want the season to end, too.

That sounded like a terrible use of your time. You didn't even pay attention to Love's new hair/face style.

Love was wearing a hat.

Martell's new hair is even more ridiculous.

Awesome post! I was wondering what was going on, as I saw many people with Wolves gear on during my run, and thought "that's not normal".

I can't lie, it kind of bothers me that a guy like Love would cop an attitude about being at a thing like that. It was how long, an hour? Give me a break. He lives right across the river from there anyways, it's not like he had to drive from Wayzata like Beasley or something. And it's the last week of the season. Suck it up and don't act like you are too good.

Sounds like Beas was cool. I enjoyed hearing about this, it's always fun to hear about interactions with the players. Sucks Ricky wasn't there. Was Adelman there? If you think of any more stuff, post it.

Bonk - The game actually had an ok atmosphere. I was surprised. Not much else to report, sadly. I think any NBA fan is like us: eager for the playoffs to start.

The Jazz play the Suns tonight. Huge game for both teams. The good news for us is that the Suns finish against San Antonio and the Jazz finish against Portland. I think Utah owns the tiebreaker so as long as the Jazz win 1 of their last 2 they are in regardless of what happens with Pho.

It would be a pretty big surprise if we didn't get the pick that will be traded back 45 times to pay for Darko's buyout 16th pick.

Correction: The Suns own the tiebreaker with Utah.

Love, Miller (him especially) and Ridnour were acting like tools...out loud, too. Miller was leaning back and signing the posters as he was turned around in his seat, verbally arguing with the Wolves PR rep standing near him. It was kind of funny in a way. But yes, disappointing. Most everyone else was engaged.

Barea looked like a frat-boy with his puffy silver vest and bright orange hat.

No Adelman sightings.

Seems like a good spot to run, btw. I'll have to give it a try sometime. I love that area of town in general. Less crowded than the lakes, which are about 80% running around dog walkers... and more scenic.

Bytheway, Jim Peterson said during Sunday night's game that "JJ Barea is a pretty good defender". He now has no credibility to me. I swear when the Wolves were winning J Pete wasn't too bad this year, but the last few months he & Hanney have resorted back to their homerish, apologist, spin artist ways.
JJB is one of the worst defenders I have ever seen. What a completely preposterous statement. Seriously Jim Pete?!? Wow. :(

And yeah, I concur... good thoughts by DFS.
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Awesome huge meet and greet post WW, Howl to you!

Like Bonk, I really love hearing stories like this... so thanks a ton for sharing!

Beasley always sounds so easy-going and happy-go-lucky. I bet he's really fun to hang out with.

Screw you Love, that's weak. I mean... really?!? I bet he hates Minnesota (mostly because of Kahn and his inability to be an even average GM.) :(

Good stuff though.

-Ridnour probably had a flight to Oregon to catch.

-Brad Miller is one game away from being retired. He would rather be shooting some animals or washing his truck.

-Love...yea just acting like a tool per the norm. Probably wanted to be out and about showing off his new douchey haircut.

I can't picture K. Love in a hat. What kind of a hat does a K. Love wear?

For some reason I just find that so funny that Rubio is hanging out with Brad Miller. What could they possibly have in common besides they are both pro basketball players?
