Love really picked it up in the Olympics. He had horrible exhibition games but you could blame that on Mike K going small for far too long in some of them. When Duke K actually realised you need to utilise a big man in the offensive game Love started crushing opponents because Tyson Chandler hates offense and Anthony Davis has an unibrow. Only K-Love can throw some points on the board around the basket.
Seeing how the teams looked up to now Russia/Spain is anybody's guess (Russia won in the group stage) while USA Love should have another monster game against Argentina... mainly because they play Scola at C and Nocioni at PF (hahaha).
I'm also suprosed by Timofey Mozgov. Nuggets really struck gold on this dude (throw-in to the Carmelo trade). He is a really mobile big-man, who just goes straight for the power dunk. Now I'm not joking; he's a more assertive Pekovic on offense, at least on the national team.
No, he's not. Pekovic has extremely good hands and foot work. Mozgov is good, knows where to go, and aggressive, but he is not nearly as good as Pekovic.
I think you misunderstood me.
Pekovic is a better player than Mozgov - no discussion here. Mozgov is more assertive on offense though. Really. He grabs the ball and emphatically looks for his own shot. I think it has a lot to do with pek having Love around. Maybe if Love was injured or not playing because of foul trouble, Pek would embrace the role of the go-to scorer down low, but from what I've seen him on the Wolves and Mozgov on a Russian team, where he is supposed to be 3rd banana behin OUR players (HAHAHAH YES!) and long story short - when Mozgov feels confident, he doesn't give others a second look, just goes for the rim. I liked that about him. Of course, Pek has better hands and better movement and its probably just a matter of attitude, not skill.
