Quarles and Winn Duffy are the best bad guys ever. Limehouse is just so-so.

Mags was definitely the best, no doubt. I really like Boyd too... his character arc and transformation has been great over the 3 seasons.

I like Quarles and Limehouse. Winn was kinda douchy I thought.

But for the most part, all the characters in the show have been really well done. Expertly cast and such a great series.

I wouldn't consider Boyd one of the bad guys in the context of the show.

He is Raylan's archnemesis. I am sure he'll be the main bad guy for the life of the show, and maybe he dies at the end of the last episode or something. It's like Sabertooth and Wolverine.

No Boyd and Raylan are (kind of) on the same side. They do each other favors all the time. Boyd and Ava are definitely not bad guys on the show.

Started this last week per the recommendation here. Through the first few episodes. Like it so far. Have always enjoyed southern crime TV shows and movies. I like that it is easy to follow, too, and you can multitask during it to some degree.

The first three seem sort of 'episodic' vs. serialized. (Think CSI/X-Files vs. Lost/24). Does the show maintain this theme?

It is like a mix between episodic and serialized. A lot of the time, they do a different thing each episode, but all of the main storylines continue throughout the entire season. The core storylines carry over from season to season. In season 3, they basically ditched the episodic structure altogether and just go for season plot the entire time.

I just got around to watching last week's episode. This season is going to be awesome. I can't wait for tonight's episode and the rest of the season. I don't know why this show doesn't get more recognition.
