Anyone else watch it? Thoughts?
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

The usual group of cliche characters is slightly annoying but overall it was good. The part where they are at the spirit tree was pretty badass, especially the monkey that is wearing the doll mask

I think it probably should have been made as a miniseries rather than a tv show with multiple seasons.

Yeah, you are probably right about that. I guess we'll see how it goes though.

I thought it was ok, but not really very scary (all things considered), and had lots of cheesy parts... especially some dialogue.

Like I said over on the other board, it just never grabbed me.

I had it on and was paying attention initially. Then, I realized that I could play on the confuser and keep up with the (lack of) action on-screen without too much difficulty. I think, ultimately, that I just tuned it out altogether.

Considering that it was a Spielberg project, it was really disappointing. I'd give it a D+/C-, at best. It won't last - unless it can somehow get better.

I don't think Spielberg had much to do with it, if anything at all. Like Terra Nova, they probably just paid him some money to "consult" so they could put his name on the project, so that more people would watch it.

It won't get cancelled, it's only 8 episodes and they have all already been produced. So only 6 left now. At least we won't have to worry about a second season I don't think.

The funniest thing is that ABC and NBC got in a huuuuuuuuge bidding war over the series, and they ended up paying a ton for the rights to it. Well, that was a failure.

You are probably right about Spielberg's involvement - if he had any creative control or input into the project, perhaps he has lost some of his game! It's kind of all the James Patterson co-written novels lately. Not sure of the process, but I suspect that, at best, he provides a synopsis or an outline and gives that to the co-author to "fill in the blanks"!

Nice work if you can get it!

Damn, when I clicked on the thread, I thought for sure it was about where the Wolves intend to place Wes Johnson, but then I quickly realized that the starting lineup is the only spot he would be placed...

So was it rickety found footage stuff or more produced documentary style in the theme of The Office/Modern Family, etc? Is there music? Is the majority of the show just shots of them setting up tents and talking about nothing like other found footage types of things?

Sounds like Rickety Blair Witch/Paranormal Activity. Damn. That immediately makes my interest decrease. Movies like that are like 80 minutes of super boring nonsense and 10 minutes of quasi-scary stuff. I hope this isn't what The River becomes.

Grantland had great things to say about it. Will probably watch later this week. Anyone have any thoughts on the above?

Yeah, find something more exciting to do, like shoveling snow off the driveway.

It was kinda stupid the more I think about it. The "found footage" was lame and not well done. The dialogue was cheesy as hell. It wasn't scary.

I might watch another episode, I guess, since it's only 8 episodes long. If the next one doesn't do anything for me, then I'm definitely not watching anymore.

I'm shocked Grantland liked it... do you have a link? Pretty much everything I've read about it is giving very negative reviews.

This show is a lot better than CW and themerryprankster are making it out to be. It's not great or anything but it's way better than Terra Nova or Falling Skies. Those shows were complete garbage.

The way they filmed it and all the different camera shots is actually really cool I thought. The acting is pretty bad and the writing is subpar but passable. It held my interest for the whole 2 episodes which I can't say for a lot of supposedly superior shows *cough* The Walking Dead *cough*.

Yes, even though it kind of doesn't make sense for there to be.

No, lots of supernatural stuff happens. The part i liked is that they didn't go through the required 2 hours of characters going, "that's impossible" "that doesn't exist" "blah blah blah"

Instead they just accept all this ridiculous stuff happening and don't even wonder what the heck is going on.

The stupidest part was how the "spirit" or whatever escaped from it's egg, flew around and killed people and was supposed to be this great demon (or whatever), and then they easily just eventually get it to fly back into it's egg. Then they throw it in the river and keep on floating away with their boat, never for it to be mentioned again. WTF?

And then the dead ghost in the water that takes the dude's mom. They put a skeleton back in the water to "replace" her, and she comes out of the grave. What the hell? That stuff was so dumb I thought. It's freakier when you don't actually see these absolutely ridiculous things happening and are left to wonder what's going on or what would happen next.

Yeah, it's maybe better than "Falling Skies" and "Terra Nova"... because those shows were total garbage. Not high thresholds to cross.
