Is something screwy with the member stats? I keep seeing that new members are joining, yet the \"Total Number of Users\" changes but doesn't necessarily go up?

Also, when you click on the \"User List\" (or Member list or whatever it's called) we can't see the names/profiles of all the people that have joined.

Any idea what's up? I think Daddy was wondering about this too in one of the forum threads.

Depending on the day, we can sometimes get 10+ people registering for the blog. Unfortunately most of them are spambots. I go and delete the spam accounts every two days or so, which is why the total number of users keeps changing around but not necessarily increasing.

Also, the reason why all the members aren't shown on the userlist is because that account has to \"do something\" to have it activated in the forum. This means either they post, or somebody clicks on their profile when they're the \"newest user\" giving them a profile view. Basically, if your stats are all zeros in everything that gets tracked on the userlist, your account won't show up there. At least that's my guess as to what's going on.

Actually, now that I went and checked, both Liston and Alex have zeros across the board, but they do have a login. Maybe people who create an account but never come back and login don't show up. Either way, if you participate at all, you'll be on the list.

I totally didn't even think about the Spambots! Doh! I should have after what we had to go through on our last board. Then again, that last change you made did fix that quite nicely.

I kinda figured the second question had something to do with the zero stats or coming back to log in or whatnot. So yeah, that makes sense too.
