TOPIC: The Official Apology to KG

The Official Apology to KG 4 years 11 months ago #14392

Well...KG did it...He led the Celtics to the NBA Finals. I am a man of my word and I will give him full props. KG actually stepped up in a series and took the team on his shoulders and brought them to the promised land.

When I first started this forum, I was a KG critic. Some would say hater, but I never have hated KG. I have always respected his game, hustle and pure heart for the game of basketball. It is his passion, it is his life, and yes KG lives for this.

It would have been SOOOOOO nice if KG could have had that same supporting cast here in Minny so we could have celebrated a trip to the NBA finals, but it was not meant to be. I know KG is a classy dude too...and so what if after a few seasons in Boston, he comes back to Minny and plays his final couple of seasons in a TWolves uniform. That would be AWESOME!

I wonder what jersey he will pick to go into the HOF??? Will it be the #5??? Or the #21??? I am hoping he does not forget his roots...

Anyways, thanks to all for the great debates and passionate discussions about the career of KG. Well, this critic is no longer a critic and now KG can put a huge notch in his belt and put many of the detractors behind him...

I must confess to you though, I will be rooting for the Lakers, because I have always like the Lakers back in the Magic Johnson days and never have like the Celtics. I had a good friend whose favorite player was Larry Bird and I could not stand Bird. But you have to respect the legend of Bird as he is one of the greatest to play the game. Anyone old enough to remember the Bird -v- Jordan video game for the original Nintendo??? Needless to say my buddy would always choose Bird and I had to \"settle\" for his airness...LOL

It should be a heck of a series, but I see the Lakers winning it in 6. But KG now will live on as a NON BUST..LOL...

Thanks again for putting up with the constructive criticism of KG's game, but maybe he read this and said, \"I wanna prove that KG4LVP dude wrong.\" And guess what, he did...

Peace and props!!!

Wow... I did not expect this. Glad to hear that KG is no longer a \"bust\" in your eyes. Lastly, I do agree that would be pretty cool if he ended his career back here (on a small free agent contract or whatnot.) I'd accept him with open arms.

P.S. If he wins a title in Boston before he retires, I definitely think he'd go into the HOF with the #5 Boston jersey. That would make me sad, but could you blame him?
Question: "Hey Antoine Walker, why do you shoot so many 3's?"

Answer: "Because there are no 4's."

Well, I have to admit after the jersey popping incident I didn't like KG very much anymore. I wanted Boston to lose to Cleveland and Detroit. After I saw the look on the Celtics' faces, including KG, after they had won, I realized how much it meant to get to the finals for KG. I don't know if they can beat the Lakers, but I hope KG gets what he's looking for....

...although deep down inside I am always a bit sad when I see one of our former players having great success outside of MN, as I really wish he could be having that success in Minnesota. If he came back to MN (unlikely), I'd love to have him back.

Are you serious?

I found it incredibly disrespectful. There are few things that annoy me, but disrespectful displays are one of them.

Very. Quite serious. It's laughable how we pick and choose what to condemn people for. Scrutinized by the media for close to 15 years, Garnett has maintained a sense of decency, respect and humility seen by few. He has spent literally his entire adult life (drafted at 18) saying and doing the \"right\" things. How hypocritical of any of us to write off one of the most intensely emotional people to be in the spotlight the second he allows his emotions to get the best of him. Sure the jersey popping was disrespectful. Sure it’s disrespectful when he blurts out profanity with the microphone too close. Sure it was disappointing to hear he instigated the Wally fight. Sure, he might have been a bit selfish to accept such a large contract. SO *$*$^*# WHAT. Those are the human moments of an otherwise passionate, considerate, articulate, genuine man who gives his all out of the respect he has for his profession.

Now how in the world you get off rooting for the Pistons in spite of “disrespect” from KG is beyond me. One of my favorite big men, Mr. Rasheed Wallace is the epitome of disrespect. Despite his undervalued intelligence, the man is deliberately malicious to any and all he can affect. Then he’s got his sidekick Mr. Hamilton who will cheat his way to a victory if it means kicking Ray Allen in the ankles. You also root for a team with Damon Jones on it and have the audacity to mention respect as a reason why? The man mocks everything that is Reggie Miller, Ray Allen, Steve Kerr, etc. in terms of pure shooters. He openly stinks of envy in his treatment of his “friends,” just read up on Gabe Muoneke. Two of the Cavs key players care so much about themselves that they will sit out half the season to get their money right…how does that work? Not even Kobe or Sheed would consider sitting out the season if his contract was going south. They love and respect the game too much.

But you know, if one poor decision makes you hand the man a ticket to hell, so be it. I’m rooting for the Celtics.

You make some good points, Daddy.

I am getting over it, but disrespect is especially hard to take from a player who used to play for your home team. I hope you can respect that, as I respect your objections as well.

Cleveland was a team I rooted for because of LeBron, now that Wally (one of my favorite players ever) is on the team, it gives me all the more reason to cheer.

Overall, it is hard for me to accept the fact that KG is not with Minnesota any longer, and all of his intensity and raw emotion for the game and his team went with it. Seeing those actions and feelings expressed for another team is very hard for me to take, and I think I am not alone in that viewpoint.

Fair enough. To each his own.
